Friendly Visiting Fan
Silverblood, what the heck??? Not what I would expect from a "friendly visiting fan" to the Snakepit. I stuck up for you when certain people there thought you were a troll; and I said that you were friendly and we welcomed you. Guess I look like a fool now.
From McCovey Chronicles
Guys
Thank you very, very much for beating the Diamondbacks.
That was extremely satisfying.

No
I really enjoy anything featuring "Diamondbacks" and "failure."
by Silverblood on Sep 10, 2008 4:35 PM MST
Well
I figured you as Giants fans would be pretty proud of the effort put forth by your team to beat a divisional rival that both of us dislike. So I thanked you. I could NOT thank you? [shrug]

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Hmm
I don’t think I’ve ever been less than courteous on the Snakepit, and no matter my problems with your team, I enjoy the camaraderie with the fans there. I have enjoyed friendly conversations with both Giants and Dbacks fans and never engaged in trollish behavior on either site. Similarly, D-backs fans have no problem with me while actively disliking my team and vice versa, it being the nature of rivalry. I’ve seen some pretty heated things posted about the Rox on other sites and don’t think that that means AZ fans suddenly aren’t welcome on PR. If I’m not welcomed back, I’ll understand, but I’ll continue to be polite and to enjoy banter with you all, only if wanted. Also, I’m curious, why is what I post on other SB Nation sites an indication of what I do on the Snakepit? Here, I actively disparage the Dbacks but never their fans, whose online friendship I value.
And if you do have a problem with it in future, please email me privately. Thanks.

Also
I am wondering when being a fan of the team whose blog you were visiting became a requirement…. that’s kind of implied in the definition of “visiting opposing fan.” I’ve never been a Dbacks fan, same way you Snakepitters haven’t been Rockies fans, but we’re able to communicate with fun and civility nonetheless. Clearly I don’t like the D-backs TEAM, since they are rivals to my TEAM. But the PEOPLE I have no beef with. I know you’re capable of making the distinction. Don’t become Gaslamp Ball….. ;)

Also for a little perspective
I really really don’t like the Giants as a TEAM. They are, well, the Giants. Hometown of Barry Bonds, the most loathsome player in baseball. Dumb enough to sign Barry Zito. And somehow thinking they’ll get away with it. The Giants drive me nuts. Anyone who read PR probably knows this.
This hasn’t stopped me from going over and having fun with their fans, who have similar feelings for the Rockies and managed to have fun with me back. I enjoy posting on McC and have read it for a long while since it always made me laugh, including sometimes when they were mocking the Rox.
In short…. lighten up. Did ya think I was gonna become a covert Dbacks fan? ;)

And one last point (I promise, it's late, I have to go to bed)
In an early-season Rox/Dbacks game, DbacksSkins, who is of course a well-known visitor around these parts, was in one of our game threads rooting pretty openly for Arizona (and seeing our record against you guys this year, one can probably guess how the game was going). We weren’t busy wondering if we’d been mistaken all along and he was really a troll (I think we might have told him to tone it down at one point) and certainly didn’t go over to his own blog to berate him about it. Three comments on McCovey Chronicles do not Silverblood make (and for what it’s worth, I was in a weird mood that entire day anyway). Tis all.

This is entirely no different than you guys saying “I hope the Rox lose today” or “Thank you ____ for beating the Rockies” (as you do, of course, since the Dbacks are your team and we are your rivals) and yet, you’re still able to come over to PR and be (welcome) visitors. This hasn’t changed that, by the way. All Snakepitters are still always welcome to drop by.
Also also also, if I was a troll, then I would go to the Snakepit and post this directly to rub salt in a wound. After my bad timing incident last time, which was NOT an insidious attempt to show up and gloat but rather a simple mistake, I have become more careful about making appearances there anyway, as you may have noticed. I have no interest in provoking a SB Nation war between (mainly friendly) blogs/rivals.
So what I’m saying is, I’m not a troll by any sense of the word and kinda offended that you came here to publicly accuse me of being one. Hope all is well w/ you guys.
