Game #150: Cook vs Maddux

Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies, Sep 14, 2008 1:05 PM MDT

Hard eight? The Rockies dropped a half game behind Cincy and San Fran with the loss yesterday and we thereby also skipped over Washington's compensation pick. Atlanta's just a game lower, our draft prospects are getting brighter by the day. Is this something I should be rooting for, #9 and rising?

Well, with our chances...

for the post season shot, and our chances for .500 also shot, that may be all we have to root for anymore. Of course there’s always pride. Not that I’m a “fire Hurdle” zealot but we can’t say he’s managing for his job. A few guys like say: Seth Smith, Spilly, Barmes, and Buckholz might be playing for their jobs. Maybe just as well to root for that draft pick.

Same ole

Same old stuff.

Incredible discipline at the plate, really working counts and wearing the pitcher down.

This is looking like it might be Maddux’s first CG in years.

Anyone ever thrown a 50 pitch CG shutout before?

Perfect game

Atkins ended the perfect game finally.

At least now the guys don't have any right to whine

about DOD telling it like it is. They look like an AA team. Karma for last September when we couldn’t do anything wrong?

Even though I’m well past any delusion of making the post season and am generally depressed by our state of affairs overall…it sure was nice watching a great pitching effort by Aaron and the core of this team able to suck it up when it counted to pull out the win.

I will freely admit

that I have NO idea how we won that game.

But I am glad that we did.

Me too

It’s one of those games that if I were on the other side, I’d be pissed. I freely admit that. But I can’t apologize for being glad my team won.

The Broncos

and the Rockies won today, my birthday? It’s a sure sign of the coming apocalypse.

Nah

It was just stars aligning properly for you. Guess they figured you’ve suffered enough for one year.

And I agree. Happy Birthday!

Put me out of my misery. Please!
