Who wants to go with Silverblood to her last Rockies game for a year?
Okay, so here's the deal. I am jetting off to England on September 30, where I will be in residence until June 22 next year. My best friend/sister/partner in crime, Squeaky, has already left me for the bright lights and big city of New York, which means that I have no one to go with for my farewell Rockies game, and going alone is lamesauce. Since I will be 7 hours ahead of Mountain Time, that means I will only be able to make an appearance in game threads if the Rox are on the East Coast, which means I will basically miss out on half the season next year. Which means I will be having withdrawals. Which means I have to get to one more game in person before I leave. Which leads me to ask if any of you fine denizens of the Row are interested in going to a game with the resident (but very charming!) pessimistic asshole. I promise I am not that scary. Seriously. Strange, yes, but terrifying, no.
I was thinking one of the LAD/SD games from next week, and probably on the weekend. I prefer the Saturday night games, which would mean Sept. 13, 6:05 pm against the Dodgers, but I am willing to negotiate. I am a well-behaved, house-trained female who a) will not shriek "OMIGOD TROY I LOVE YOU!" b) am an amusing person to watch a game with due to my demonstrated, um, interesting sense of humor, c) has the financial means (barely) to provide for my own ticket, parking, and meal, and d) am interested in meeting up with someone to enjoy my last excursion to 20th and Blake for quite a damn while. As long as I don't pay $78 to watch the Rockies lose, as happened with Squeaky's farewell game. Bastards. Also, if you plan on doing and/or endorsing the Wave, I have to warn you right now, we will have problems.
If you're interested for the Sept. 13 game, let me know, and we can meet up outside the statue at Coors, 4:30 pm, and then we can just go over to the window and get our tickets then. Look for the tall and strikingly beautiful (yeah, I wish) glamazon in Rockies playoff sweatshirt and cap. Yeah, well, that could be any number of fans, but you will know it is me by the distinctly offbeat aura I emanate.
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff.

If only
I could jet off to Denver for that weekend, I’d be able to celebrate my birthday with the strikingly beautiful girl.

I'd love to go with you.
Just let me know when. Besides, you don’t have to worry about not recognizing me, since it’s impossible to not recognize me.

If September 13, 4:30 pm by the statue works for you, it works for me.

Start with everything
It’s a baseball game, we’re landlocked, and all you’re doing by doing the wave is announcing your boredom with the proceedings on the field. Hey, if you’re bored, GO THE HELL HOME. Quit standing up and flailing your arms like an idiot with two on and two out in a one-run game in the 8th. Some of us want to watch the game without dealing with that childish inanity.
Silverblood – entertaining post. Were I not in northern Wyoming, professional sports dead zone that it is, I’d take you up on the offer since I know all about wanting to get in one more Rox game before departing. Have fun, stay all 9, eat an extra Rockie dog, and savor the experience.

Seriously?
There are lots of reasons to love baseball, and one of those is the experience of going to a game. The wave is a time-honored part of a day at the ballpark.
Most of my friends aren’t ardent baseball fans, and when I try to explain my love for the statistical part of the game, they don’t get it. The one thing that they DO understand is how fun it is to spend an afternoon at the ballpark, which includes hot dogs, beer, call-and-response chants, and – the wave!
It’s not an expression of boredom (I do it and still pay attention) and it has nothing to do with being close to the ocean. It, like going to a baseball game, is a fun thing to do. Baseball’s not so serious that we should oppose things that might “get in the way” of our attention.

I have a
(perhaps irrational) fear that whenever the wave starts, the Rockies start playing worse.

Sure
I’d probably be in. Kind of depends on how much you’re really looking to spend on tickets, as I usually am looking to spend…well, very little.

I'm actually going to be at that game!
I’m heading out there from Salt Lake City for the week. I’m gonna take in three or four Rox games and watch my beloved Utes play at Air Force.

as long as we can boo BYU together
Then we can be friends. I’m an Air Force fan, but when I lived in SLC for 7 years, it was all about the Utes.

As a proud Cougar, I say, bring it on. Though I generally like Air Force fine. It’s the Utes I have seething hatred for. ;-)

Oh boy...
Although you’re a Cooger I can like, as you are a fellow Rockies fan. At least you have one out of two correct! In all seriousness, I wish the Coogs the best and I hope they can go undefeated up until the showdown in Rice-Eccles!

As much as I hate the Utes, I actually also hope both teams go undefeated until their matchup. If that happens, that game will be a humdinger. And as seems to be par for the course, will probably give fans of both teams a heart attack before it’s over.

Gotta miss this one
I’ll be out at Red Rocks at the Monolith festival all weekend. Even had to give up my ticket to the 14th, to wifey’s friend.
Maybe that will be the day we climb into a tie for first.

If you've got the chance to go with her...
You’ve gotta do it. I remember the Purple Row get together last year, I think she and I were the resident bringers of unhealthy sarcasm in the bunch. Don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard at a game.
I’d be there in a flash if I could.

Maybe when both of us are back in the U.S.
we should do it again. I remember that, it was hysterical. I especially enjoyed your description of the Superman leap you’d do to catch a foul ball, and then probably end up hanging off the right field wall and yelling at Hawpe to help you get down.

Good luck Silver!!!
I wish I could go with you all. Today I am moving to San Diego, and I am proudly wearing my Rockies cap the whole way!! I am planning on attending the last Rockies game in Phoenix. It’s kind of a tradition for me to attend the last game of the season and last year it turned out to be the last game before game 163, which was amazing.
I’m pretty excited that instead of being 5 hours from a baseball stadium I will be 5 hours from 5 baseball stadiums. My brother and I are going to attend the Angels-Yankees game next week.
Pulling for another epic run!

5 baseball stadiums?
I’m drawing a blank here. You’ve got Padres, Angels, Dodgers, and D-Backs. What’s the 5th?

I don't think so
Because then you’d add the Giants, too, and neither of those are even close to within 5 hours of San Diego.

I'd go with ya Silver but....
I’m working all (but 1 of) the Dodgers games all the Padres & D-Snakes games. the only game I’m not working is Fri Sept 12th’s game, that’s when I’ll be honored by the Rockies for 10yrs of Service w/Event Services..& it’s also Eric Young day so I might get a pic with him & stand next to him on the field. :D
Die-hard Rockies fan since 4-5-93 & 100% loyal to the Rox win or lose, they R my heart & soul.
