Knowing Ian, however, a southpaw might be just what the doctor ordered to help him break out. No Holliday tonight, Chris Iannetta gets to bat fifth, which the way he's been going of late might be too low.

notion has been plaguing me for weeks, but I’ve not said anything here. If we trade Matty, where does the power come from? I don’t see it in what we’d have left.

It would have to be in consistent smaller doses
a few twenty HR, solid OBP guys to make up for the loss of a big bat.
The problem with this approach is that there can’t be more than one non-pitcher drag on the lineup or it starts to break apart in practical application. It would be absolutely critical that we have an upgrade at second or center and solid, somewhat consistent power threats off the bench. I just can’t see it all happening with internal fills, particularly at second but also keeping frowing pains with Fowler in mind, so if we do trade Matt, we’ll need to address this shortfall via free agency if we don’t get ready made solutions back in exchange.
Well since all the talk seems to be
trade Matty for pitching (which I completely understand and reluctantly support), it seems unlikely to me that we’d get a power bat in the deal as well. Humidor or no humidor, a consistent power bat in the line-up at Coors seems like a must to me. If we look to FA for the solution, who’s available? Maybe I’m missing something, however. You know I’m not the best baseball mind on the Row.

It's actually fairly decent.
If you figure that Teixeira and Manny get the big $$, there will be some pretty good next tier hitters like Dunn and Burrell that might have to settle for a bit less than they would in other years where they were at the top of the market.

when we got swept in San Diego, and then lost 2 out of 3 games in Phx to LA, and then got swept in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
That’s when I lost my happy, and that’s when we blew this division.

Football. My teams (2 college, one pro) are a combined 9-0 so far. Pretty good start for me, and much more fun than following the Rockies this year.
I am pretty much completely onto football season now
Spent all day watching college games, looking forward to the Broncos/Saints tomorrow. I think as for baseball, I’m over it.

when i first started watching sports in 93 those are all the teams i choose and i’ve stuck with them through the good times and bad times

And why are your college hoops and college football teams two different schools?
Sorry for all the questions, I’m just greatly intrigued. I follow all Colorado teams with the exception of 1 of my college teams, which is the school I attended, so choosing random teams to root for is strangely fascinating.

I hope so...
He’s looking much more comfortable at the plate now than he was in July, obviously he was our only offense on Wednesday. I just wish Hurdle would give him more AB’s these last few games.
