Rockies AA team Tulsa Drillers to get new stadium!

via www.tulsaworld.com

Well, not a whole lot to say, that this article from OKC's Daily Oklahoman doesn't say.  But the Tulsa Drillers will get a new stadium, with a oil/gas company name.  Driller Stadium was about 100 years old, and decrepid.

Also here's a page of past articles on the new stadium from the World.

The preliminary artist renderings depict an exterior that evokes the Prairie School architectural style that was made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright and features flat roofs, broad overhanging eaves and horizontal lines.  From a more in-depth article from the Tulsa World.

Looks like the AA Rockies team will have a nicer stadium then it's AAA affiliate, even with the up-dating done in the Springs recently.

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Wow

That’s pretty sweet. I’ll have to tell poster ch3cooh about it, he’s a rox fan in Tulsa.

Wow, I love the Prairie School style, that would be unique for a baseball stadium

I swear I take my friends on crazy FLW side-tours whenever I know there’s a house of his nearby. I don’t think they appreciate that as much as I do. Nor do the people living in those neighborhoods, typically, as my car usually looks a bit out of place among the Beamers and Lexuses

Very nice

Thanks for post!

Interesting how they had to specify.

The Drillers are Tulsa’s Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, which is a Major League Baseball team.

Sometimes I wonder as well.

Blast and botheration.

Ouch..

That was in poor taste young lady. Where did you learn those vulgar actions? Have you been attending unruly British soccer matches lately?

Keepin' warm by the hot stove season.

Hey, I didn't write it, they did

I just find it amusing that they had to make sure that, you know, we’re actually in MLB.

Blast and botheration.

well, Major League baseball Team

barely…like the Royals.

Also it’s from papers in Oklahoma….where if it’s not football, it gets a little iffy on wither the audience will know it or not.

The current Driller Park

was built by the Cherokee Nation, some 25 years before Oklahoma Statehood….or so it seems. It was a dump 20 years ago.

Tulsa, and NW Oklahoma is a surprisingly nice place to visit.
