Purple Row Writer Search Preliminary Posting Schedule
Alright, it seems we're just about ready to go onto the next phase of the search, which will allow us the opportunity to see your blogging skills in action, and you to see how this will work out for you during the regular season. For this phase, we're going to ask you to provide four fanposts over the span of one week, two Rockpiles, a game thread for a non-baseball team or sport that you're hopefully at least somewhat interested in, and a post-game wrap-up for the same.
I've asked for all of those that were interested to e-mail me a schedule of their availability, and for those that did, I have come up with the following posting calendar:
| Day | Rockpile | Game Thread | Game Wrap |

For those listed, if you see some scheduling conflict, please let me know either in the comments to this thread or via e-mail so we can get it fixed. I'm putting this up a few days in advance so we could make changes if necessary.
For the three that haven't e-mailed me their schedule yet (Toonafeesh, roxintober and S.C.), we'll try and work you in, but please get those to me right away if you're still interested in the opportunity.

Now as for these posts, Russ and I aren't trying to find out who's the most popular or who can get their friends to stuff the most recs into their posts, we'll be grading these on a purely subjective basis. I'd be happy to offer feedback if you'd like (by e-mail probably, I won't rip you in the comments), hopefully Russ could do the same. We will be bumping these fanposts to the front page, so everybody will have an opportunity to add to the discussion.
For the Rockpile post, please include at least one outgoing link to a Rockies related media source or blog, more is preferable but not a necessity if the one link leads to a thoughtful post. The post should be up by around 8 a.m. MST, but blogging isn't a set in stone exercise, so if you're a little later than that don't think it's an automatic dismissal. Since I have scheduled two Rockpile posts a day, the way you're going to set yourself apart is by expressing an opinion or offering some analysis in addition to the link(s).
For the Gamethreads, we typically try to have them up one hour before the game begins, and frankly, I'm looking more for interaction in the comments than an in depth preview, particularly since going in depth on non-baseball sports might not tell me a whole lot. I'll try and follow the games via ESPN's gamecast and comment, hopefully Russ and other Row users could as well.
For the gamewrap, you should be able to find the game in the "Attach Event" menu on the right side of the fanpost construction box. Make sure you add it, but after that I'll leave everything up to you. It could be detailed, you could just do something humorous or brief, I don't know, surprise me. Don't spend a whole lot of time on it, for right now, these will be mostly extra credit in my book and are mainly just to give you an idea of how this would play out in your schedule during baseball season. The postgame wrap should typically be up no later than six hours after the game's over. For the Row, I have a feeling that it's going to be a thread for fans to celebrate or commiserate rather than a container of our deepest baseball thoughts, but if you have other ideas for how you'd like to do it should you be chosen that's fine too. I think Russ and I settled that we're not expecting there to be much uniformity in them come the regular season.
Please tag all of these fanposts with "purple row writer search", which will help us keep them all organized and make them easy to look up. If we have to go digging in a couple of weeks to find your post it might make us a little more surly. Okay, so there's what I've come up with. I encourage you to look around the add a new fanpost page so you could see what I'm referring to. If you have further questions feel free to ask them in the comments or via e-mail, as I'm sure that I've probably left some helpful information out. Thank you everybody once again for the interest, and once again, let me know if there are issues with the schedule.

Also,
use “attach event” for the game thread.

I always have trouble getting that to work with upcoming games...
The window usually freezes up for me, maybe I should send that in to the bugreport.

okay then,
I think using Google Chrome I have some caching issues at times. So yeah, everybody, use the “Attach Event” button for the gamethreads too.

Chrome and probably Opera.
On the rare occasion I use Opera, I encounter problems with the platform.

The flash, java, and shockwave in Chrome really is buggy.

Super
I don’t think I’ll have a problem with the schedule. I don’t have the mtn, so I’ll have to be creative on Saturday, but it should work. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, hopefully somebody has a regularly updated play by play feed,
Otherwise it could get a little tricky, if you’d rather do another more easily accessible game, I think the Nuggets are playing that night, let me know.

The Kansas/Colorado game is on ABC
For what it’s worth. (It’s regional coverage so it may not be on everywhere, but I’m assuming if you live in Colorado you’ll get it.)

Oh... about the TBD's...
wolf213, I didn’t know your outside baseball sports interests, so for Sunday you can choose to write a wrap for either one of the NFL games, please let me know which, as Sandlotkid8 will be assigned the other one on Monday, or you can choose another sport/event, the Avs game for instance, just let me know in advance. Same goes for your game thread on Friday, the offerings are sort of weak that day, but I’ll let you decide.
Sandlotkid8, it’s largely the same deal, I know you told me pro-football, but there are only three games left and two of them are this weekend when you’ll be unavailable, so you’ll have to choose something else on Thursday, but I will let you go over the typical six hour rule to do an NFL recap on Monday.
If anybody else has an alternative game in mind (Purple Rox if you want to game thread one of the NFL games that’s okay too, for instance) please let me know.

Don't care
too much about any of the winter sports to be honest, but I can figure something out. let Sandlotkid8 choose what he wants to do and I will pick up the other.

I kind of figured as much, sorry about that,
If Amazing Race was on already, I’d let you liveblog that, but I don’t know how many people besides myself would be that interested.

Friday gamethread suggestions:
Wife Swap – The show that proves why thou shalt not covet thy neighbor, she could be worse
Are you smarter than a 5th grader – The show that proves people get dumber as they get older
Friday Night Smackdown! – The sport that has as much choreography as synchronized swimming, with less clothing and makeup
Walker, Texas Ranger – The show that put Texas on the map!
Rock of Love with Brett Micheals – Like Wrestling only with better acting
Whitetail Revolution – Invite your local Peta bloggers to join in!
Keepin' warm by the hot stove season.

For Saturday's game wrap...
Can I do the University of Utah basketball game instead of the Jazz? I tend to care a bit more about college basketball. Thanks!

No problem, I wasn't sure..,
I’ll fix that on the schedule then. Sorry they don’t play again until the next Saturday, or I’d try and figure out a way for you to do a game thread with them as well.

Now that I look at it, that may be interesting
Since I had Poseidon’s Fist set up to game thread that game from the CSU side…

Indeed
The Nuggets game WOULD be more accessible Saturday, but it’s also later and could conflict with evening plans. I’ll investigate my accessibility to the mtn and get back to you by Wednesday afternoon.

I just noticed that as well...
that should be fun! I’ll be attending the game in person, so I should have some good stuff to add to it. I have no problem with doing the Jazz game thread on Tuesday; this schedule works out well for me overall, actually, so thank you.

I'd like to do a game thread...
of the AFC championship game on Sunday instead of the Avs game. I like hockey and all, but I’ll be watching football on Sunday, so I’d rather do that, if possible. For the CSU game, I’ll attend that, so the game review will probably be more experiential than exact, if that’s okay.

Turns out that...
the NFC title game will actually work better in my schedule, so the game thread will be that game (2:30 MST) instead of the 6:00 MST AFC game. I like the Eagles better anyway, so this works for me.

As an Arizonan,
I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED, that you would get the time of the NFC Title game wrong.
But, in all seriousness, I’m also slightly curious as to how the Purple Rowers are rooting…. I mean, the Dbacks are your rival and all, but still…. heck, I’m not even a Cards fan (see my handle) per se, and I’m effing pumped.

I noticed
that David OhNo and Malakian have been removed as bench coaches. Is this why you’re searching for two new writers?

It's mostly just because we need more time...
