If only...
Fogg was actually useful and not simply a duplication of pitchers we already have in camp (Rusch, Belisle, etc.). Then I might be excited.
Then again, he is the Dragonslayer…
Eschew Obfuscation!
I figure
at least it will be a minor-league contract. I’m not jumping for joy or anything, but I don’t really see any harm in it, either.
I agree...
As long as we’re not paying him Kip Wells money where the team would be hesitant to give him the axe if he’s terrible, than there’s benefit in stocking up on this caliber of pitcher.
The key line in your post
is “Then again, he is the Dragonslayer”. * waves his hand over your head * All your fears are now allayed.
Dragons, prepare to be slayed.

We have our opening day Pitcher!
"Suck it monkeys, the Rockies will win this year", Rox Girl 1-11-2009
True
But I don’t see Fogg as the type of guy who can injure himself simply by waking up in the morning, either.

As bad as Fogg is.....
he still performed better for us than high-priced past Rockies pitchers such as Hampton and Neagle, and at less than a tenth of the price.. Plus, you can’t beat his infectous smile and demeanor.
Just trying to look at the bright side of an otherwise dull move.
At the risk of y'all getting into all the esoteric stats
I don’t think I would use the term “As bad as Fogg is…”. He’s not CC Sebathia, Dan Haren or Tim Linnecum (sp?) for sure but for the two years he was here he was a servicable starter IMO. I think it’s a good move to bring him back in to see if he fits into this staff.

The problem
is that he’s coming off the worst season of his career. He’s never been anything special, yeah, but things could certainly be worse.
