Help Wanted: Pickaxe and Roll

Pickaxeandroll_medium

via assets.sbnation.com

SB Nation's Nuggets blog, Pickaxe and Roll, is in search of a new blogger to take over the day-to-day operations of the site. To borrow the words my friend over at Mile High Report used to also help in this search:

Let's face it, SBNation has the best blogging platform known to man, and gives bloggers every opportunity to succeed.  So, if you enjoy Nuggets basketball, enjoy writing, and want to take your  fandom to the next level, send me an email at [jedicore9@gmail.com].

Yes, someone, please!

I liked Jeremy a lot (previous blogger) but I like having all my team blogs in one place even more. Especially with the technology here—the auto-updating comments have spoiled me for all other blogs.

So hopefully someone will step up to the plate.

NBA Basketball

is simply the worst major sport product now in existence. The proliferation of 18-21 year old kids have destroyed the game. I would not go to a game if they paid me for it and it was across the street from my house.

Gee, thanks for your input

in a thread looking for a new NBA blogger for our local team. I’ll continue to root for the Nuggets and will enjoy it.

Don't listen to Pinch...

He’s a grumpy old miser who remembers when baseball was called rounders and basketball was played in a cage.

Holly, how do you follow the Nugs from SF? I just moved to SD and I’m missing Fox Sports Rocky Mountain’s coverage of Chauncy and the runnin’ Nugs.

Keepin' warm by the hot stove season.

It's tricky

There’s the occasional game on ESPN or TNT, but mostly I resort to highlights or finding an (illegal) stream of the games. Same way as I follow all the Denver teams, I guess. Even with the NFL (being in a 2-team NFL market really sucks when you don’t care about either team, especially when they both currently suck—we probably get the worst slate of games of any market, all season long).

I’ve actually been following the Nuggets more than I usually do at this point in the season. Partly how well they’ve played thus far, but partly just Chauncey. He’s a couple years older than me, but when I was in high school my dad and I went to watch a family friend in the state playoffs, and we saw Chauncey play for GW. So it’s fun to have him back again.

Going tonight...(Pistons, return of AI)

I have a friend with amazing season tickets (watch for me on tv), and his wife is tired of going. I get the benefits.

The interaction between players and fans in basketball is like no other sport. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had some sort of interaction with the players, where they actually acknowledge it. Or Karl for that matter. Too much fun and the atmosphere is better than most other sports, yet sitting out in the sun drinking beer, watching baseball is something that can never be beat.

Thanks Charlie!

just when I was starting to come to grips with my geriatric issues, you lay this on me!

It's ok Pinch!

Not all of us identify with the cornrows and tattoos. There will always be some of us that yearn for the days of underhand free throws and shorty shorts!!

I can also remeber

having to count out passes in practice before we could shoot.

"Get better players, make fewer mistakes, and drill the fundamentals into your players' heads. The rest of it is a joke. Teams aren't winning because of what they had for breakfast or what some coach said in the locker room." Barry Switzer

Heh

So true. And even moreso, since there’s no age rule like there is now in the NBA. Just that there’s more NHL players on the whole, so individuals don’t usually make quite as much an impact. And they’re just lower profile to begin with.

by holly96 on Jan 9, 2009 11:28 AM MST up reply actions

You're right.

The young blood in the NHL that is injecting more speed and skill into the game while simultaneously chipping away at the trapping game that destroyed the explosive offenses just a few short years ago is DEFINITELY bad for the sport. You’re absolutely right.

I am Jack's unbridled optimism.

Not to speak for DbacksSkins

But I don’t think that’s what he was implying. I think he was just pointing out that the NBA isn’t the only sport with young players.

Indeed.

I did find SDTF’s response interesting, though… all I said was “NHL” and yet SDTF and holly both took my brief comment entirely differently.

Ceci n'est pas une signature.
