COLORADO ROCKIES CLINCH NL WILD CARD! Beat Brewers 9-2 to secure playoff berth.

Aaron Cook pitched a gem and got two RBI's by walking with the bases loaded as the Rockies swept the Brewers in three games. The offense pounded out fourteen hits in all. A full game wrap will follow shortly, but it's time for Rockies fans to CELEBRATE their second playoff appearance in three seasons.

The Rockies still have a chance to win their first ever division title by sweeping the Dodgers in Los Angeles, but their ticket to the playoffs has been punched. With the win, the Atlanta Braves are officially eliminated from competition from the National League wild card race.

It is 6.

3 wins for colorado + 3 losses from LA. That is how Magic numbers are calculated. Yes one causes the other, but the number is 6. Need 3 more wins. I got rid of the term “magic number” so there would be no arguement.

Magic Number = 0 for WC, 3 more wins for the West.

I maintain three

A Rockies win and Dodgers loss is a mutually inclusive data point. You can’t have one without the other. Three Rockies wins and we’re in. We’re just as far away as if the magic number was three and we swept the Nats.

…so three

Thank you, Cookie!!! You da man!

Okay, in my opinion, this should be our starting rotation for the playoffs (assuming we play on the road to start the series):

1) Ubaldo K-menez ….get things started right with our ace.
2) JDLR…..The pressure should be off with Ubaldo’s win the day before. JDLR will deliver.
3) Cookie…..I love Cookie at Coors. Enough said.
4) Hammel….Thank you, Marquis, for helping us get here. But, I do not trust you in the playoffs. Even in your last win, you labored horribly.
5) If we need a 5th starter, I vote for Contreras.

Okay, I'll follow suit.

Reading my comment, I feel like I was a bit hard on Jason. He did work out of some jams and seemed to gain a bit more confidence as the game wore on.

Everyone has their funks. We should feel pretty darn good about our staff as a whole.

I agree with Contreras being considered for a spot

He’s pitched well for us, knows the AL and has a WS ring.

Impossible not to have positive thoughts.

I want Sam Deduno to pitch already.

Replace ND with NY

What do you think of Street performance this year?

ehhh…he’s been ok.

Although

in 2007 about 10-15 purple hats and purple pinstripe jerseys appeared around campus for the playoffs. It was weird. To see if any of them knew anything about the team I asked 3 of them who was pitching the opener and none of them knew it was Francis. 2 thought it was Hampton and one thought it Rodriguez…. I didn’t know they HAD a Rodriguez… I must not have been a good fan.

It completes one of the most remarkable turnarounds in baseball history.

False. It will be completed if the Rockies sweep the Dodgers.
