Inside the Colorado Rockies " Reynolds Undergoes Surgery

Greg Reynolds, who didn’t pitch in 2009 following one April appearance for Triple-A Colorado Springs, underwent exploratory arthroscopic surgery Wednesday Oct. 28 on his ailing right scapula.

He was so nice when I talked to him at the Sky Sox game

that it changed my mind on him. I wasn’t a big fan of his before then, but now I am rooting for him. He thought he would be ready for ST, but it just seems to get worse for him. I’m hoping he gets healthy real soon.

Rox, please start playing with heart! Let's finish this thing off!

I think most of us are rooting for him

but kind of being pragmatic/realists which in this case appears pessimistic.

A healthy Greg Reynolds in 2011 and 2012

Might be like getting a bonus 1st round pick. The guy DOES have potential and, luckily, there is time to realise it.

by biondino on Oct 30, 2009 10:14 AM MDT reply actions

1st round might be stretching it

and it’s not as if he hasn’t used any option years or anything.

I don’t think his potential is anywhere near where it was.

Everything about Greg Reynolds confuses me

Are his struggles due entirly to shoulder problems and if so what is going on? Is this the same scapula thing over and over or is it a bunch of littel things that led to his demise? How many surgeries has he had? And my biggest question of all; if he has been sidelined since April 9th with shoulder discomfort why the hell did the Rockies wait until now for him to have surgery? Were they looking into to this in say April, May, June, July, August or September?

Sorry if any of these questions are ignorant but the whole situation confuses me.

I'm still hoping to wake up from that nightmare I had about the 9th inning of Game 4.

by RhodeIslandRoxfan on Oct 30, 2009 10:48 AM MDT reply actions

This is just arthoscopic surgery to clear up some scar tissue that has grown

not what you would call a major surgery, or even anything that would really set him back.

DS9 isn't Star Trek in that case

it’s a show that isn’t about dancing around the universe looking at new planets and violating the Prime Directive. It’s more of a political…thriller?

Hope got in my eyes

It's not jut the Dominion War, tho

In my opinion, DS9 has some of the best character development and most of it happens after season 3. It’s definitely not “traditional” Star Trek, no, but because of the fantastic characters I still count it :)

The only negative about after season 3 is that the religion thing does get a little hokey, but Dukat is one of the most awesomest villains the show’s ever had.

New Stargate series

Just came on. If you hurry you can catch all of the first 5 episodes on Hulu.

It seems darker and more character based than, say, SG1, but so far it’s just been people trying to survive on a spaceship in another galaxy.

Not really.

Nope

That was sort of the point going in. If you know the basic premise of the Stargate, you can hop right in.

Having said that, the first 8 seasons of SG-1 are on Hulu. I’ve totally been watching them as they come up.

Hulu is right up there with Baseball Reference in the biggest time wasters on the internet list

by controlled_slide on Oct 30, 2009 3:27 PM MDT up reply actions

I guess the issue is that the Fox does like Action Show! and American Idol

they just don’t seem to be a successful sitcom network. It’s all about the DVDs, but there’s no accountability (or real guarantee of any sort of profit) in a Straight-to-DVD tv show

But starting in Season 3, it became much more than that.

before they branched out in that direction.

The only

good episode I ever saw of the series was the one when Peggy took over the cheer squad and Bobby made fun of the Irish.

Hey what do you guys think about Melvin Mora?

Definitely a declining bat, but if there isn’t a starting job for him, he’s a RH bench bat who can play the corners and might find some dying pop to his bat here in Colorado.

Hope got in my eyes

by Andrew Martin on Oct 30, 2009 2:49 PM MDT reply actions

Bad idea, imho

He’s carrying a major chip on his shoulder about the O’s deciding months ago to not pick up the option. And his numbers just sorta reek of possible “early ought’s” PED use. Which isn’t to say we shouldn’t sign a former user on moral grounds…just that, with him in his decline phase, and his decline from a possible unnatural high point, the decline could actually be faster and deeper than thought.

Kinda like the last year or so of Sammy Sosa before he took those two years off.

I guess I can be convinced otherwise, but I don’t think he’s the guy.
