PrintThe Red Sox got shut out last night by John Lackey. It was awesome.
2 days ago, the Yankees pummeled the Twins 7-2. Hardly awesome.
Starting in like an hour 10 minutes ago, the Yankees and Twinkies (this matches up well) will try again in Game 2 of the ALDS as Nick Blackburn takes the bump vs AJ Burnett.
Prediction: I hate AJ Burnett.

Starting in about 6 hours or so 
(I need to stop reading the Sunday game times) 3 hours or so, the Angels will try to head into Fenway up 2-0 after stymieing the Boston bats. Josh Beckett and his multiple epidurals in his back will try and shut down Torii Hunter and the rest of the Halos while Jered Weaver continues to be an under-appreciated stud.
Prediction: I don't particularly care for the Angels OF, but then again, I don't really like Boston at all either, so therefore Vlad will hit a home run off of his shoelaces.

Isn't that question like asking
who would have been the bigger contributor yesterday, CDI or Yorvit? (Please don’t answer that). I’m just trying to say that Beckett played a huge role in their WS victory in 2007. If your sole goal as an organization is to win the WS, I’d say it was a success.

Ramierez has been awesome for the Fish but Beckett was crucial in Sox’s WS run and the Fish have not made the postseason since the trade

Sure, but I'd argue the extra runs they would have gotten from Hanley
might’ve been similar to Beckett’s contributions, making like a #3 starter as effective as Beckett was – maybe Anibal Sanchez!
IF your sole goal was the WS, then yeah, they succeeded. My goal is sustainable success. I’d argue the Marlins got the better end of that deal.

you might have a point
since Beckett is a SP he can only contribute every 4 or 5 days where as Hanley can contribute every game. How many wins would you say each has contributed to their club?

You are implying
that you think they would be better off with him, which you really can’t do. My point is they made the trade to have an Ace for the playoffs to win the world series. They won the world series therefore Red Sox=Win.
I didn't mean to imply anything
You are right in a sense no one knows if the Red Sox would have won a WS without Beckett. HanRam is one of the best players in baseball I think we can say it would make the Red Sox better to have him, but how much better is a good question. I think the trade was worth it cause the Red Sox got the world series win, which would not have happened without him in my opinion. I do think the Sox would be better off today with Han Ram over Beckett.

When Gomez scored the winning run Tuesday
in the play-in game, he acted like a young kid thinks a star should…a huge win for the Twins certainly, but I thought his reaction way over the top. Judging by his base-running gaffe that cost his team a run vs Yanks tonight, when all he had to do was get in a rundown for the run to score, should show Gomez he still has a lot to learn.

So I’m assuming that’s where it’s coming from.
However, it seems weird to me that they would decide that early, considering how weather can change from one hour to the next. Unless it’s a blizzard early and they decide no one can even get to the game.
The forecast
for tomorrow is not that bad. Cold? Yes. Wet? Not really. It’s also supposed to clear up in the afternoon (relatively). I think it unlikely it gets moved.
Not to mention
how often the weather people are wrong. I don’t know how many time’s we’ve been told to expect 8-10" of snow, only to have nothing appear.
It seems that the latest forecast calls for snow only for Longmont north, ending by noon, but it’s still supposed to be in the 20’s, which would be pretty miserable for the players & fans.
Precipitation forecasts are much harder to make than
temperature forecasts. It will be Very Very Cold, but it may be a dry cold.

I always felt bad for the players, managers, and coaches of the Yankees
For so long it was a poorly run organization that could only survive due to spending, and they’re coming out of it, thanks to Cashman getting the upper personnel of the Yankees to see that their way of creating a team was hurting the team and was way behind league standards. Yeah, they still spend the big bucks, but do you think they would actually allow a rotation led by Pettite and Shelley Duncan playing first? They attempted to make Hughes, Chamberlain, and Kennedy mainstreams in the rotation and it was a disaster even with the talent.
That is, I’m still laughing at the Burnett deal.

The problem is that
Cashman is not a good GM, they really don’t have a good farm system, have trouble identifying good young talent. Joba – the next great Yankee, will probably never be good enough to start in MLB, Kennedy the same. Hughes is probably good enough, but never will because they’ll keep buying their rotation because they can.

Another game over 3 1/2 hours again. Only Game 1 of Rockies/Phillies was the only game under three hours this postseason.
They are doing extended inning breaks
for extra commercials. I think that may have a little something to do with it.
