2009 SBN Baseball Awards: Most Valuable Players

Today we unveil our final category: Most Valuable Player. In our Purple Row voting, the winner was unanimous in each league: Joe Mauer in the AL and Albert Pujols in the NL. Unlike the Purple Row voting, SBN Baseball went 10-deep on the ballot.

Who didn't expect that to be a unanimous vote? I don't recall my complete ballot but I'm pretty sure I didn't include Todd Helton or Ubaldo Jimenez on it. Our boy Troy finished fifth. Where will he be when the real award comes out next week?

That Helton vote isn't mine, either...

I have no idea who put that there. I think I might be one of the two Jimenez votes, though and was one of the #2 votes for Tulo.

It was snankecharmer

He also questioned you (well not you by name but you the Purple Row voter) on your Ubaldo vote for Cy.

You might want to make a visit to the snakepit :-)

I wonder if Bud Selig will give the Yankees a receipt with their World Series purchase

I'm sure she did...

I probably should visit to defend myself.

Alex Gonzalez??

Rubs eyes. Blinks. Uhh…maybe the voter was inebriated and thought he was voting for Adrian in the nl. Or maybe he is a sox fan. Or both

Someone

brought that up in the email discussion we had when we received the results. It’s a legit vote.

Just weird

He wasn’t even in the top ten in the AL among shortstops in WAR. TWO guys named Izturis were better

You shouldn't be allowed to vote for a position player who only appeared in 44 games

That’s just nuts

It was probably someone who decided to vote for all the Red Sox.

Boston fans are pretty stupid. Dealing with a 50-50 mix of them and Yankee fans on a daily basis is torture when you want to have a rational baseball discussion.

3 out of 4 sounds so much better than 2 out of 3...

Do my eyes deceive me

Or did someone not include Mauer at all on their AL ballot? There were 5 first place votes that were not for Mauer, and he only got 4 not-first-place votes. I (sort of) understand not putting him #1, but not in the top 10?

I bet it was the same person who voted Gonzalez in the top ten

I excluded

him because I’m a dirty Yankees fan.

I KNEW IT!! During the WS you weren't

just “rooting” for them! You are a dirty Yankees fan :)P

Dear Rockies - Thank you for a wonderful rollercoaster of a season! NL Wild Card Champs. Best turnaround in MLB history for a team to win the Wild Card. Can't wait to do it again next year!

Troy Tulowitzki - MLB's BEST shortstop..nuff said
Yorvit Torrealba - Re-sign!! he's en Fuego!!
Brad Hawpe- I hope I get to see you in a Rockies uniform again!
Dexter Fowler - prowling CF, WC in his talons, leaping Utleys in a single bound!

Isn’t that redundant?
