Saturday Rockpile: Rockies medical mini-camp to take place next month, more
First off, I hope everybody had a very merry Christmas. I hope the new year brings all of you as much hope and optimism as it brings me - in every aspect of life.
Inside the Colorado Rockies " Medical mini-camp scheduled next month | Major League Baseball in Denver
Several Rockies major and minor leaguers will participate in the camp that takes place every other year at Coors Field. Among those who will be reporting to camp are Casey Weathers, Chaz Roe, Chris Nelson, Taylor Buchholz, and Jeff Francis. In the article, Jack Etkin says that Nelson will be starting the 2010 season in Colorado Springs. Nelson never was able to prove himself at the AA level, but it is imperative that he shows some of the talent and ability that made him the ninth pick in the 2004 draft. It will be very interesting to see how he performs.
Duchscherer, Capps agree to deals - ESPN
Two guys that the Rockies were heavily rumored to be interested in have signed with other teams. Starting pitcher Justin Duchscherer will be returning to the A's and reliever Matt Capps has signed with the busy Nationals. I'm not personally heartbroken about the Rockies missing out on either of these guys.
Fowler's five-steal night among '09's best | ColoradoRockies.com: News
As part of MLB.com's "Nine for '09" series, Thomas Harding recalls Dexter Fowler's five-steal game on April 27th. Fowler is still raw as far as base-stealing ability goes; those five bags, and the 22 others in which he received a five-finger discount, were all taken as a result of sheer speed. As he grows as a baseball player, he'll be able to use instinct and the ability to read pitchers/catchers and will see that number rise.

I like the aggressiveness with the Rockies starting Nelson in Triple A this year
I mean, I know he showed nothing there because of injuries in 2008, and he only had 122 at bats there this year, but he showed that he still had power and could hit the ball. I don’t he could’ve proven much more there, the real test is how he much he hits at Colorado Springs, since if he hits around .270/.340/.420, I don’t think I’d very confident with the transition to the MLB because of the park factor there. All in all, this move shows me that the Rockies are still very confident in Nelson’s talent and ability to make the major leagues, and he’s still on the 40 man roster, so if Barmes fails next year and if Nelson goes CarGo in Colorado Springs, could a callup happen?
Impossible not to have positive thoughts.
I want Sam Deduno to pitch already.
But perhaps I'm reading too much into these news

I've always been interested in Nelson
Simply because he was a high draft pick. I remember I would look for his stats for MiLB..but he never seemed to impress me with those. I hope he starts raking at AAA and provides extra insurance in case Barmes starts flailing and popping up every pitch and being super un-clutch.
Remember old folks, I'm just 17 years old =]

He's still pretty young..
the same age as Dexter Fowler, and Dex skipped AAA this year. So the injuries haven’t put Chris behind that much.
