Best single game pitching for 1994.

What has been the Rockies greatest single game pitching performance?

Ok, ok, ok, pitching, Coors Field, Mile High, altitude.  Words not commonly associated with good things for pitchers.  After several days of scouring over mountains, piles, pages, rows, columns, so many numbers that my head still hurts.  I have compiled a list of the best single game pitching performances by the Rockies and am asking for your help in determining the top spot.

We have chosen from a list of the 1993 games: here.

Thanks to everyone that voted!

On to the 1994 games!

I must say...

Reynoso vs the Cards was a close second in my mind.

I hate to seem just rooted on the Neid bandwagon

But a CGS is just something impressive, you know?

Pitch counts

Can we include the pitch counts with the stats as we go forward? I don’t think you need to go back and do that here, but I know in recent years there have been some really impressive complete games on obscenely low pitch counts. Maybe not on every one, but where particularly notable.

Man

I’m gonna have to root for Josh Fogg at some point here, won’t I?

Yes, yes you are.

But I was also thinking of a couple Cook outings.

Feel free

to root against him when he’s pitching against us.

Yes

How do you prevent the opposing pitcher from tearing you superfluous new be-hind while he is on the mound? Simple: Swing a bat....and if that don't work, swing more bat!

I can list them if needed.

If you click on the dates of the games, you can get the entire box score from BR.

Thanks

Like I said at the end of my comment, maybe you could just make sure to include pitch counts when particularly notable. I’m sure you would anyway, I just wanted to make sure, because I know have a handful of those types of game coming up.

Greg Harris' name was listed a number of times in that group...

Although he was acquired in the worst trade in Rockies history, Harris performed quite well in a few of those games. Incidentally Bruce Hurst, his fellow pitcher acquired from the Padres in the trade has a college stadium in St. George, Utah named after him. I have played in that stadium, and it has the nicest grass I have ever seen.

Hurst

Interesting about the college stadium. That confirms for me that he’s the guy who’s niece was a college roommate of mine. I wasn’t positive that I was remembering the right guy.

Utah

I’m assuming he has some connection to the area to have a stadium named after him. I went to BYU, my roommate was from Utah and I’m assuming her family was from Utah. It makes sense.

He was born in St. George..

And he has a nice statue that stands outside the stadium.

To many good ones

& if memorie serves I’ve been to a few of them (Roger Bailey’s Complete game/Rox 200th win is one that comes to my mind)

Thanks for voting everyone.

David Nied shutout against Houston was voted the best game for 1994. I will have the 1995 games up ASAP.
