Is anyone else ever bugged by the comments on the Denver Post articles?

Is it just me, or do the dumbest Rockies fans in the world always post their comments on the Denver Post online stories?  You would think that every now and then you would get a good comment, or someone would say something that makes sense, but really, everyone incriminates themselves as a September 2007 and on Rox fan.  All you hear the whole time is how bad the Rockies are for getting rid of Matt Holliday and how this team will lose 100 games.  They may as well be writers for Foxsports.com.

Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Yes, terribly...

Which is why I quit reading them. Newspaper website commenters as a whole are sad, angry people.

Read the beat writers, any Dave Krieger column on the Rox, read the blogs, read the Row. That’s all you need.

Once upon a time, years and years ago

I thought DP and RMN forums were the only places to chat with Rockies fans. I am so glad I was wrong. I left those clowns in high school and haven’t been back. Well, except for a good

Ahh the ol' RMN forums

Its amazing how everything, and i mean everything on there follows the same formula.

Guy 1: Something about the story
Guy 2: Something relating to the story but sorta political
Guy 3: Calls guy 2 and 1 morons and says something political
Guy 2: Retaliates to Guy 3
Guy 4: Says something political and slightly racist
Guy 5: Full on racism
Guy 4: Comments removed by staff

Thank you RMN for entertaining me. Now you can go away

Don't forget

bashing players (i.e. Spilborghs is a women-ogling goofball, Tulo is a flash in the pan and a total bust, Holliday can go take his money and perform a sex act on himself, Helton is a former user, etc etc…)

Makes me wonder why these people are even reading about the Rockies if they hate them so much.

Blast and botheration.

That being said,

if anyone finds objectionable comments around here and they haven’t been taken care of yet, click the action button and then click the flag button. All flags appear in my dashboard so I can look them over.

Perhaps, but...

Russ’ commute is obviously much more enjoyable. I mean, if I could follow PR comments and study up on my sabermetrics while cruising I-25 back to Longmont every night, I’d actually have something of value to contribute to the Rowbots more often.

After reading the DP for years I am convinced that...

Three people are responsible for 90% of the posts on the DP blog… Mark Kiszla, Woody Paige, and some crazy guy holed up in a snow covered shed in Leadville. The only writer I read on DP anymore is Troy Renck.

Keepin' warm by the hot stove season.

Yep.

But we here at the Row can all feel confident in our moral superiority to those yokels. The kind of Rockies fans who hang out here are dedicated, long-term, thoughtful, and possess a pain tolerance so high that someone should do DNA experimentation on it.

Blast and botheration.

When I read the posts on DP or RMN

RMN/DP Comment threads. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and stupidity. We must be cautious.

Some of the worst:

arvada_mark is one of them. He’s secretly Kiszla just trashing as many denver teams as possible.

RenegadeLG called Brad Hawpe trash. Unacceptable. He also thinks the organization plans on starting Greg Reynolds in the majors this season so therefore we lose.

Head….asplode

But I still love Greg Reynolds.

Yes, I know. I’m the only one.

Reynolds can still turn into a quality pitcher

He’ll never be a Cole Hamels, but really, there’s no reason he can’t be as good as Jason Marquis…I just don’t think he was ready the first time. But he’s got steady #4 still in his sights…but I’d rather see Cook, U-Ball, Morales, JLDR, Marquis (thought I doubt that’s what we get this year)

I really hope that for a #2 pick overall

that Reynolds will turn out to be better than Jason ‘Vanilla’ Marquis.

Also, we might see Morales in the rotation this year, but I still see him starting the year in CoSprings.

Pay no attention

To those who comment behind the curtain. As far as I can tell, the mast majority of these people have no life other than commenting on news stories. And it’s not just the Post. They jump from there to the RMN, then over to 9News, and then to wherever else will allow them to spew their venom. Sadly, that’s just about anywhere these days.

I’m all for legitimate interaction and real discussion (see: Purple Row), but the downside of the technology is that everyone has an opinion and everyone else is welcome to it. Just like some fellow workers I have known, when these folks start talking, they never know when to shut up.

I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is they must change if they are to get better. -Georg C. Lichtenberg:
