Rowbot Competition
Hey
I was looking on the Braves SB Talking Chop site today and they have a pretty cool competiion (here). It relates to people making predictions on game threads before the game . It is really up to the site managers so Russ and others what do you think about such thing happening here. If it's too much trouble to run something like that I understand. I think it could encourage further involvement in the game threads during the season.
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

I tried something like this early in the site's history
When we didn’t have a lot of people commenting besides yours truly and Russ and a couple of others, but it didn’t really take hold as well as I hoped. Now that we have a larger community, maybe I should break it out of storage.

Sometimes I'll read 400 in a game thread I missed.

Personally
I don’t really like the game aspect of those other threads. I watch the games and comment on here because I enjoy it and I like the community, I don’t need it to be a competition.

Over at the Snakepit,
it’s always a friendly competition as to who’s going to post the most Gameday comments.
Believe it or not, I’ve actually been beaten once or twice.

I agree with muzia
I have not been involved on the Row very much until now and I don’t think a competition is necessary. That is what the “experts” are for in their pregame analysis. In the game thread we might discuss their predictions, before we get down to business.
I also think there will 10 comments in this thread.

I'm guessing 12 comments,
It’s good to hear your opinions on this, as it’s sort of what I’ve been thinking. Where these competitions help is that they do seem to do a somewhat effective job of getting people to open the gamethread and they definitely push up comment totals. This seems somewhat artificial to me, though, and I wonder if it might be too much of a distraction in the pregame period when we already seem to have no problem getting people conversing once the game starts.

I'm not in favor of this.

Alright
sounds like the majority of people would not be in favor. Just an idea I thought I would throw out there. I think that you guys are right now that I have been thinking about it longer. Our game threads already seem pretty lively and why clutter theym with people that just want to make predictions in the begining.
