According to Thomas Harding, Garrett Atkins aggravated his hip flexor injury he suffered earlier this Spring, and though it's not serious, is sitting out today as a precautionary measure. Already Greg Smith was scratched from today's start due to the flu, leaving an opening for Greg Reynolds to get some more innings in his bid to earn a rotation spot.

I'm actually looking forward to what this group can do together. Also scheduled to pitch today for the Rockies are Josh Fogg, Manny Corpas, Brandon Hynick, Samuel Deduno and Randy Flores. Corpas is the only one certain of, or even likely of, getting a roster spot in April, but these pitchers figure to meet a worse than usual lineup of travel squad Giants.

Not everything's bad on the injury front. According to Patrick Saunders, Brad Hawpe should return to play tomorrow.
