This is my first Game Thread since the day after win number one. Weird.

What to Watch For:
-Garrett Atkins returns to the lineup today for the first time since March 10.
-Troy Tulowitzki plays his third game in a row after being out last weekend with back problems.
-Brad Hawpe is still taking it easy with his left hammy, so we get to see Ian Stewart try his first hand at RF today.
-Except for Hawpe and Jimenez, this could be the Opening Day line-up. It will be interesting to see how they stack up against an All-Star pitcher.

I really don’t know…that’s a good question. Hurdle is definitely going with the Opening Day lineup sans Hawpe, so at least Stewart is getting ABs instead of Pods or Murton. Maybe he’ll shift to the IF later in the game like he did the other day

If I was the kind of person to try to read the tea leaves that is a spring training line-up, I’d say, Ian Stewart is going to be the super-duper-sub, having to get AB’s where ever they come up, Barmes is the 2ndbaseman….and Dexter isn’t going to start in the majors, and will be in CS for at least 2 months so the Rockies get an extra year pre-arb from him.

It’s hard to say where the acceptable line is, how many extra runs does having Spilly and Smith both in the lineup score the Rockies over Dex/Spilly compared to how many Spilly/Smith cost us on D. It’s a close call right now, but I think Dex’s bat could still use just a little more work before the equation works out positively for him.
just playing devil's advocate. It all depends on how much of an offensive difference there is between Smith and Fowler, hard to say at this point.
