Spring Training Game #7: Greg Smith vs. Yovani Gallardo
With this being my first game thread, I'm hoping that I can bring some of my infamous good luck to the table in this one, as the 0-6 Rockies face the 2-3 Brewers at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix.
Your starting pitchers:
vs.
Alan Embree, Greg Reynolds, Ryan Mattheus are among others that scheduled to pitch for the Rox. Hopefully, Smith and Reynolds are sparked by the competition for the fifth starter and both have good performances this afternoon.
For the Brew Crew, Trevor Hoffman (insert tiebreaker game reference here), Carlos Villanueva, Mitch Stetter, Omar Aguilar, and Chase Wright are slated to take the mound, just in case anybody cares.
Here is the Gameday link.
Colorado's Lineup:
Podsednik RF
Young 2B
Spilborghs CF
Koshansky 1B
S. Smith LF
Colonel 3B

I love the tie breaker game
but how about an Opening Day 2005 reference. He seems to have big game problems, and especially in Colorado.

Please to be allowing us to swing at first strikes...
I get all the preaching patience and working down in the zone, but dammit, if we out Lions the Detroit Lions, I’m gonna be pissed.

I hope Smith and Reynolds
are allowed to throw something besides fastballs low and in, otherwise it’s gonna be another looooong night in Rockieland. Well, afternoon for you guys, night for me.

"Better move your rental cars, I am about to take BP."
-Glendon Rusch
Not too terribly excited, no.
I won’t be around much for night games in Denver, and not at all for night games on the West Coast. I hope they play a lot of afternooners on the East Coast, but this is a problem for obvious reasons.

Are you at least back for the summer?
"Better move your rental cars, I am about to take BP."

I'm getting home either in late June or early July.
My parents might be out here to do some travelling, which would be great. But in any case, probably not until almost the All-Star break. I’ve got a very short summer, I’m heading back to NY for my senior year at the end of August.
Aue tehan-deoes shaj do’ ai poyene slueden!
At least
then you’re in a respectable time zone to follow baseball.

I agree.
I don’t think I can take multiple repeats of the 22-inning game — that one ended at 4:30 am ET, which is now just the fifth or sixth inning of a night game in the West.
Aue tehan-deoes shaj do’ ai poyene slueden!
Hmm.
Trevor Hoffman, Carlos Villanueva, Mitch Stetter, Omar Aguilar, and Chase Wright.
Dammit, if nobody can get some runs off one of those scrubs, I’m gonna be pissed.

We might as well just call the season off...

Are the Rockies the only team
that is “working on things in spring training” and making pitchers throw certain pitches and batters lay off certain pitches? I think most teams do some variation of that in the Spring. Because it seems to me that the info leaked to the Post this morning was a bit of an attempt at PR spin.
Well, it might have been
seeing as the natives are already going apeshit over six straight ST losses. Maybe they were trying to purposefully reassure everyone that, yeah, we’re not actually going to BE like this.

That's no evidence that you "liked him"
