I see
Snakepit hasn’t been having Spring Training game threads. Otherwise I’d threaten to go hijack that.
Well,
I could go put one up, like I did a few times earlier in ST, but I’m not sure it’s worth the effort. We have much fewer users online during this time slot, and since there’s already a GDT here for the same game….

Renck has the Rockies lineup on his blog

Pretty much the expected starting day lineup except Pods in left.
I'll be sending

Augie over Lopez at 2B. Better defense.
Whitesell at 1B over Tracy. Interesting. More power.

I would
much rather Whitesell take TC’s place on the roster, but that ain’t gonna happen…
Insert witty and/or humorous signature here.
In that case,
the rest of us would probably prefer TC. Though I do recall him smoking a ball in ’07 NLCS Game 2. Good thing we had Willy T.
He's still got some power,
and he’s had a good spring. But TC is kinda like our version of Torrealba.

Mentioned in a Jayson Stark ESPN chat
JP (Noo york): Read that the Rockies are looking to move Torrealba. Would he be a good fit with the Mets? Schneider and Castro really have not done a lot for the Mets.
Jayson Stark: (2:38 PM ET ) The Mets are actively looking for a catcher. They were even in on Ronny Paulino before the Phillies traded him. And Torrealba is certainly better than Paulino is — but the Rockies also want more.
Help us, Omar Minaya, you’re our only hope!

I'm really surprised he was sent down.
But I like that Ortmeier is still in the mix. Switch hitter who can play 1st in a pinch.
What does that mean for Stewart?
If Ortmeier can play first, Atkins wouldn’t have to shift over from third, and Stewart wouldn’t get the start, on days when Heltons sits. Does this mean Stewart is headed for the Springs as well? Otherwise, I see no reason to keep Ortmeier instead of Murton.
I don't think that's a consideration
Because I think it pretty much ensures Dex makes the roster.

That was surprising to me too,
As my comments in recent days make me sound silly right now. I like both players, though, and really see them as somewhat interchangeable.
Ortmeier won't make the roster either...
They’ll keep Podsednik, Baker, and Q, leaving Murton on the outs.

Murton is a light years better hitter than Pods
Again, /blankface.

I should add that
Ortmeier is only still in major league camp because he’s on a minor league deal and doesn’t need to be optioned to CS. That’s my take, anyway.
Eschew Obfuscation!
Decent patience and some speed on the basepaths, but that's about it.
It’s like Jamey Carroll without the defense.

If he doesn't take a giant steaming dump on the mound
we’d probably consider that progress.
I love Greg Reynolds and I may be slightly ashamed to admit it.
If he continues to suck,
at what point does he become the fifth starter so we can skip him for three weeks? I’d take DLR or Morales over him at this point. Rox Girl pointed out recently that he’s the third starter in name only, but if one of the starters isn’t getting any work for three weeks, I’d prefer it to be him.

Hmm, only 4% of Yahoo leagues drafted Helton. And only 3% drafted Phil Hughes. Lucky me.

Nice try, though
I mean, he’s clearly facing a top of the line pitcher here, the odds were stacked against him from the start.
Although,
I’m not really sure what to expect this year…. should be improvement pretty much across the board, but I don’t know how much to expect.
Insert witty and/or humorous signature here.
I don't know,
I see regression for Drew, status quo for CoJack and Snyder and Reynolds really doesn’t strike me as the type of player to get better until a fundamental change occurs in his approach at the plate. Young and Upton I could see being quite a bit better, though. I’m not sure what to expect from Felipe Lopez, I’m hoping it’s not good.
Lopez
should be somewhere between total crap (Washington) and total win (St. Louis).
Not sure why you see regression for Drew, though. Unless your thinking is that pitchers will have adapted.
Insert witty and/or humorous signature here.
It's mostly because most forecasters say so...
Even Bill James, who tends to be overly optimistic, is calling for a slight downgrade from what he did last year. I’m of course biased and will tend to ignore mitigating factors for your players that might prove in their favor, but in this case, I really don’t know if I’d expect an improvement from him even without my bias.
Depends
on whether or not you think this season will be closer to his 1st half or his 2nd half.
