Is it me or does it appear as though Buehrle has a luminous appearance in his picture?

"luminous"?
Buehrle hasn’t been THAT good for awhile.
But seriously, yeah…. it looks like the sun is rising on his face.
Insert witty and/or humorous signature here.
Spilly in left?
Is this a test of a possible outfield? I don’t think Fowler should be on the big team unless he’s playing regularly, and that will only happen if Spilly moves to left. Question: are the Rockies better with Fowler or Smith in the lineup?
I sincerely hope this isn't a possible OF
We have all 3 of your CF candidates in the lineup at once. I’m thinking this is just Hurdle wanting to see them all at the same time against the same pitcher to get a better idea of what’s he got and who’s starting and who’s leaving.

Herrera is starting
Any idea why? seems like a good opportunity to get Stewart some 2b at-bats, or baker to showcase, or Q to get a better idea of whether or not to keep him. Why Herrera?

Does Pods’ game today (2 for 2, SB, nice assist, etc.) lead to Dex starting in AAA, after all?

Dex should at least start in AAA. He needs to get some more ABs. However, if he keeps performing like he has this spring (minus the first couple of days) then bring him up.

he’s a special player. If he can find any amount of consistency this year, our rotation will be fine.
Lazy fly
To end the inning and strand Thome at 2nd. Very nice.
What if the hokey pokey is what it is all about after all????
Not
letting the guys that do manage to get on affect how he pitches will be absolutely key for him – I know that’s been said over and over – but I like the way he has coped with baserunners today.

What was George's line last game?
I seem to recall it was at least decent (lots of K’s, but got hit a bit?)

Has pitched really well. I like that style of pitcher. Get the ball and go. He just has been out shined so far by Jorge.

All JDLR needs to do
is get Pierzynski and Getz on K’s and he’ll have struck out everyone

Thats not to say
I don’t like Herrera or Colonel. I think Herrera could be a decent utility guy some day, while Colonel…. well don’t like him that much but his spring hasn’t been to bad.
Herrera and Colonel are not on the roster, and cannot be optioned.
They may be reassigned to minor league camp though.

Sometimes my job is weird
I just sent someone an e-mail all about celebrity mug shots. And it was completely work-related.
On topic, it’s a bit disconcerting that the on-screen graphics don’t include how many are on base. I’m so used to that, it’s really weird not to have it.
And I’m glad to see JDLR doing much better today, even if he’s had a bit more traffic than I’d like. I don’t need perfection, here. Just relative consistency (and good consistency).
Agree
It’s hard to listen than switch to the video feed and not have an immediate picture of what’s going on. I guess we have gotten spoiled by simple things over the years. I remember when even that wouldn’t be displayed on screen.

Does anyone know the pitching schedule the rest of the way now?
I presume our first four starters have the remaining four spring games after today?
Anyone have pitch count?
Gameday doesn’t track that inthe spring. Wonder if they will go a 6th inning with JDLR. Probably not.
What if the hokey pokey is what it is all about after all????
Does he go 6?
His pitch count seems kinda high, with all the K’s. On the one hand, it would be nice to see him stretched, but there’s no real need for it

Yeah but

Yeah. Especially when talking 'bout the NLCS,
since that’s just been pounded to death already, and it didn’t exactly lead to bigger/better things for the Rockies.
Who started for us in…. oh, nvm. I forgot you guys had the play-in game.

....that last couplet
was an honest mid-sentence revelation, incidentally. Wasn’t meant to be some kind of lame putdown.
Insert witty and/or humorous signature here.
I would hope you do too
As the D-backs didn’t exactly have the best follow through on their 2007 in 2008, either. Both these teams opened a window to their next era with that season and a one year drop back doesn’t necessarily mean the window’s already shut for either. This year will show that to be the case for the Rockies, i’m expecting the D-backs to be right there in the thick of things too.
Very true.
Frankly, the entire season after about May 8th of last year was a bit of a disappointment — we lost the NL West down the stretch; Manny Freaking Ramirez, of all people, killed us; Webby won 22 games and didn’t get the Cy Young; we lost Adam Dunn without draft compensation; RJ grumpily shuffled off to San Fran and now is talking about joining the HoF as a Mariner; etc.
Like I said in PF’s Know Your Foe this week, the problem with our lineup is that it’s all about potential rather than proven performance.
Insert witty and/or humorous signature here.
we lost Adam Dunn without draft compensation
You think it would have been wise to offer him arbitration? Arbitration that he probably would have accepted, given the poor free agent hot stove?

Dunn
made an oral promise to Jeff Moorad that, if offered arbitration, he would reject it, but the risk was too high. I’m not saying it wasn’t the right thing to do, I’m just saying it was disappointing — especially since we gave up Micah Owings and Wilkin Castillo.

Now you can feel the pain we felt
Tulo missed the ROY
Holliday didn’t get MVP
and we were a good team. Your team wasn’t bad last year but everyone overlooked them because some player was traded to the Dodgers.
Let’s hope this season goes better for the two unfortunate teams and is bad for the fortunate 2008 team. It must be better for the Rox though.

at the time that Tulo should be ROY as a more complete player, on both offense AND defense, yet apparently, only offensive numbers matter.
Holliday lost because of Rollins’ gimmicky 20-20-20-20 thing… bright shiny object distracted the voters long enough for them to vote for Rollins.

by Andrew Martin on Apr 1, 2009 9:09 AM MDT up reply actions
I know Lincecum deserved it....
but traditionally, the Cy Young voters have given more credence to wins than they deserved… Webb was the first pitcher EVER to lead his league in wins by at least 4 and NOT win the Cy Young.
Compare that to 2004, when Randy Johnson had better numbers than Roger Clemens IN EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY, yet because he only won 16 games (16-14) on a 51 win team, he lost to ROGER FREAKING CLEMENS, who went 18-4 in between injecting himself with steroids.
It’s just patently unfair, that’s all. Dbacks fans always get screwed.
