I just wish
we had gone w/ Lincecum, because had the Rox drafted Longoria he would still be in the minor leagues behind Atkins anyways. I know its easy yo 2nd guess now, but a lot of scouts saw Lincecum w/ better stuff, just a smaller body. It obviously really hurts to be on a tight budget and not to be able to take a risk. Funny how Reynolds has been the one struggling / injuries too.

but Timmy was REALLY abused last year by Bochy. I wouldn’t be surprised if he falls apart this year. We’ll have to see on that. I don’t have a problem passing on him because of that concern. Several teams did. As for Longoria….we would have found a spot…

This doesn't make much sense to me...
It’s like hoping your control RHP gets promoted over the guy that throws 98 mph. Now if you’ve seen him and are saying that he’s not ready for AAA, that would be one thing, but as Rockies fans we should hope the guys with the most talent who could make the most impact are ready to move up.
I can only form an opinion off of what I know...
… but I am still able to come to said opinion even without having seen him. He did not have a good year last year, and I personally probably would keep him at the level he still has to conquer, rather than skipping him ahead

You can’t base promotions on where the prospect was at some point in the past, but you have to do it with whatever point they are right now. Without knowing this, our opinions are based off of incomplete knowledge and generally inaccurate, particularly since there’s usually a consistent forward movement with prospects. Because of an injury that took out significant time, a lot of Nelson’s AA performance that you’re using to make this judgment happened 10 to 11 months ago. It might not seem like a long time, but in the context of prospect advancement, that’s a huge gap where a lot of change could have occurred, and we’d really have to have a better idea where he is right now to make any sort of call as to which league he belongs in.
So who gets the boot in the Springs to make room for him?

Probably Perez,
Possibly McCoy, that is if Nelson’s ready. Both figure to have less use to an MLB team than Quintanilla, certainly less than Nelson, and both are pretty fungible (we found Perez in the Indy Leagues last season, there are a lot more where he came from). It could be that WolfMarauder’s right and that Nelson’s not ready, though, we’ll see how this plays out.

Because if everybody we have is playing up to their full potential, he should be our second baseman (just like Morales should be in our rotation) and if he’s ready to play at AAA, it means that we’re one step closer to realizing that dream scenario.
