Here is the rule that backs up the umpire's decision..

Rule 6.05

(k) In running the last half of the distance from home base to first base, while the ball is being fielded to first base, he runs outside (to the right of) the three-foot line, or inside (to the left of) the foul line, and in the umpire’s judgment in so doing interferes with the fielder taking the throw at first base, in which case the ball is dead; except that he may run outside (to the right of) the three-foot line or inside (to the left of) the foul line to avoid a fielder attempting to field a batted ball;

I thought this was out there...

My days of little league umpiring has paid off. The runner has to run on the outside of the three foot line to avoid the play.

Appreciate all your hard work.

But in my judgement, the umpire’s judgement was wrong

The runner has to avoid the defensive player...

Which Dexter failed to do, however the previous rule I mentioned states that if the play occurs as the same time he touches the base he is safe. So they probably should have cancelled each other out.

Just looked something up I had noticed

Number of pitches in Fowler’s at bats today

1st – 2
3rd – 1
4th – 1
6th – 3
8th – 1

Obviously one game does a not a trend make, and I know he was asked to bunt in a few of these. Does this concern anybody that he is up there hacking? Don’t know what his track record is but generally patience is a good trait in a lead off hitter.
