We had better take advantage of Vizcaino....
we were the only National League team that didn’t have the opportunity to rock him last year.

By the way,
RoxnSox, could you email me? My sister had some questions about Boulder.

Hey, I just watched the video of Marquis' RBI single.
Was CDI safe at third? It looked like the throw was way late in the replay.
He was called out but...
it sure looked like he was safe

Tulo's been busy today.
I’ve been pleased with his defense thus far this season. It would be great if he could swing back into a plus 1 defender at short this year.
UZR isn't impressed thus far
and I wonder if he ever really becomes as strong a fielder as he was in 07 ever again.

UZR's pretty meaningless to look at this early.
Sort of like ERA, one missed play can throw it off pretty significantly.
Here's where I wish we had Bucholz
for the seventh followed up by Corpas and Street

We miss Buchholz a lot! Once he gets back, the back end of the bullpen could be very good.

I don't know if people were worried about Marquis's Spring numbers so much as we were about what was causing them.
Tweaking his mechanics was a pretty bad idea, I’m glad he scrapped that plan relatively early. Still, don’t expect these performances every time out.
I was worried
about him in general because I never thought he was very good. Pleasantly surprised so far…
Yes.
Marquis is not a sub-3 ERA pitcher. Or a sub-4 ERA pitcher. Or maybe even a sub-5 ERA pitcher. The other shoe will drop eventually.

Most came late when he should have already been removed. It was a solid outing, he had a 68% strike rate through five innings.
not as good as the Reno pitcher...
Of course he didn’t need it nearly as much as the Reno pitcher. I swear it seemed like every other inning the Sky Sox had the bases loaded with none out only to come away empty. Not a good day of cashing in the chips by our offense down there.

175 pitches and counting the Rockies have seen so far.
If we can carry this over to the Dodger series and put that kind of early stress on their young pitchers, that will payback huge dividends down the road this season. It is so worth it to me.
A walk is far more beneficial than a K is detriemental
The Rockies taking a lot of pitches is definitely a good thing, even if it leads to a few more Ks.

Jiri Hudler...our underrated MVP

CDI and Grilli
bring it home. Very nice win…much needed going into LA. Just scored some tix 10 rows behind the plate for Friday, so I hope De La Soul brings the good stuff.
I hate Dodger Stadium...
Cheering for the Rockies is close to suicide at that park.

I went to college in So Cal....many of my good friends are Dodger fans...
They are nice, but Dodger fans are still crazy…they are in 2nd place 2 games over .500 and all of them are talking like they have clinched the west already.

Yeah,
I know a few too, actually. Including my uncle and his husband.
Insert witty and/or humorous signature here.
Outfield, mostly and up top. Got hit by a Tommy Lasorda coin one time...

sitting in the rich fan sections is the best way to go
Those fans don’t seem to care about anybody, even the Dodgers it seems.
I'm no fan of the stadium either
well, at least every part of the experience that doesn’t involve sitting in your seat watching the game, but Rox fans are pretty safe because the Dodgers don’t care about us. SF and SD get the rough stuff.
Last year, however, a friend and I did have, at one point, nearly 500 people booing us after Tulo hit a key bomb and we obnoxiously taunted everyone. Not wise, but damn fun.
I always would pop the beachballs and stand up and cheer for the Rockies...bad idea.

I always thought that Rockies fans don't pay attention to games...one game at Dodger Stadium will change your mind about that.

I ususally
try to keep a low profile, but not that series. My friend flew in from Denver and we decided to be “those fans” and we got our money’s worth. Two Rocks wins, countless obnoxious cheers…also at least 3 beers thrown at me (one hit), tons of peanuts, several threats of parking lot asskickings, and all the other things you love about Dodger fans.
Good game
Even a little drama at the end.

good start to the road trip
i guess even though we struck out 100000 times in these 2 games a split in wrigley is the best case scenario basically
Jiri Hudler...our underrated MVP
Agreed:
Starting 4-4 with 5 road games and five games against the Phillies and Cubs isn’t all that bad.
Lust wish they had finished it on Sunday.

Who knows
maybe Hurdle will put Corpas in there
by Chacinisthefuture on Apr 15, 2009 3:17 PM MDT up reply actions
hopefully
but Hurdle has never been known as one to take away the closer’s role without a prolonged period of failure. I mean Fuentes blew what, 5 straight saves before he got demoted?

Funny thing is
he’s looked fine in save situations. Where he has been bad is when the Rockies are losing, the game is tied, or the Rockies have a four-run lead.
This Wakefield will finish the no-hitter
if he doesn’t walk a batter and the only blemish is the error I would hate to be that fielder.
