I like it, for the most part. However, when there is bad weather, sometimes we lose our signal. Hence, tonight I am relegated to following on Gameday and Purple Row. To be honest, I don’t know if it’s just the weather, or the fact that we have about two and a half feet of snow on top of our receiver right now.

the two ABs by Tulo and Ianetta highlight what I have been coaching my kid. These players today do not adjust to what is happening to them. Both of these guys were getting heat on the outside. I am now quite peeved...
… that we gave away Morillo, who had done nothing this season to suggest with ANY certainty, let alone total certainty, that he didn’t deserve a chance to stick, so we could give a roster spot to a NRI in Belisle that didn’t have an opt out clause, and isn’t pitching well.
Morillo had a good ST. Morillo didn’t pitch poorly in the first series. In fact, he didn’t pitch at all. If we had sent Morillo out there and he was as bad as Belisle is now? Fine, DFA him and lose him on waivers. I’d have been totally cool with that. But now we have Matt Belisle there instead not doing well.
Let’s face it; the Rockies went into this knowing they weren’t going to keep Morillo, and decided to ignore the fact that they should have. At least give him a chance to stick for heaven’s sake!
Giving away talent
even marginal talent is not good. It’s a growing trend for the Rockies.
Just looking at the Purps list…and we didn’t get crap back for them…besides a pitcher that sucks so bad we can’t use him in Hammels.
"Suck it monkeys, the Rockies will win this year", Rox Girl 1-11-2009
I agree with this...
Morillo was awesome in spring training. He was able to get out of jams with guys on base, he is someone who we had gotten to see flashes of his talent but he was never given a chance to stick. Maybe I am loyal and naive, but I think we should at least give guys in our own system A CHANCE before NRI. It wasn’t like Morillo was a liabilty or gave any indication or reason why he shouldn’t be given a chance to pitch for this team.
I live and die with the Colorado Rockies and the Avs/Nuggets aren't that far behind....
by AtkinsandTulofan on Apr 17, 2009 11:54 PM MDT up reply actions
I don't think it's naive at all.
It would be naive if either of us thought it was some sort of guarantee Morillo would be doing better than Belisile is now. We obviously don’t know, and Morillo has not had a stable track record at any point in his career. But he certainly didn’t earn an automatic demotion. It’s not like his high ceiling was hogging a spot for a magical Matt Belisle whose contribution is worth losing Morillo. Belisle was stuck either way, and Morillo was not.

How can you be surprised?
this team has four major themes:
1. Recycle cause you may catch lightning in a bottle one in awhile.
2. Let’s be as cheap as possible.
3. Let’s find as many players as we can that fit the same mode.
4. Put as many big swingers with little speed as you can in the lineup.
by PinchHitLancePainter on Apr 17, 2009 11:43 PM MDT reply actions
Sometimes you can be cheap on the bullpen
I mean, Tampa Bay got a pretty nice bullpen last year without big names… While Kansas City got Kyle Farnsworth this year.
It could be worse.
Factchecker:
1. Every starter is homegrown
2. According to Jabberwocky this is the highest paid team in its history and one of a handful with a payroll increase this year
3. Do you mean they all played in the Rockies minor league system?
