Etkin - Rosario, Holcomb and Blackmon skipping levels
This is great news for all three, particularly Rosario who will be very young at Modesto, and also Holcomb as far as our prospect rankings, I would think. I also consider Delta Cleary's pending promotion to Asheville as a very good sign. It's looking like it might be an up year for watching Rox prospects. Christian Friedrich will be starting at Asheville, but he might not be long there.

I would say that this plus the departures of other players shifts the landscape of our top 20 a bit
Keep in mind that I may be forgetting players in the following list, but off the top of my head, I would rank my current top thirty Rockies prospects as follows:
1. Dexter Fowler
2. Jhoulys Chacin
3. Rosario, he’s got an opportunity to be #1 by the end of this season, and I really like Chacin. Who the heck voted him so low in our last PuRPs poll, anyway?
4. Christian Friedrich
5. Chris Nelson
6. Connor Graham
7. Hector Gomez
8. Eric Young Jr.
9. Michael McKenry
10. Charlie Blackmon
11. Darin Holcomb
12. Casey Weathers (this seems like it might be too low, but we’re really a lot better off than people give us credit for.)
13. Delta Cleary
14. Shane Lindsay
15. Esmil Rogers
16. Samuel Deduno
17. Xavier Cedeno
18. Brandon Hynick
19. Scott Robinson
20. Parker Frazier
21. Chaz Roe
22. Daniel Mayora
23. Michael Mitchell – actually, I probably wouldn’t really rank him in my top 30, but I’m just throwing the name out there because he’s really overlooked. If scrappiness was a tool, he’d be an 80 on that scale, and it’s going to carry him a lot further than those of us enamored with stats might realize.
24. Cole Garner
25. Bruce Billings
26. Cory Riordan
27. Julian Yan – if he’s everything they’re saying, he should be a lot higher, but we’ll see. Carlos Martinez so far is showing that our Midas touch in Latin America only goes so far.
28. Kiel Roling
29. Aaron Weatherford
30. Will Harris
And I just realized the one pretty important guy I'm forgetting,
If you swap David Kandilas’ name for Mitchell’s it will probably be a little closer to how my real PuRPs list would look.
As good a place as any to ask – have you and the wall of text made a bet yet?

nope, not yet...
Probably has something to do with the fact that I never paid up on our last bet. :)
Finesse lefties are always a bit of a concern to me.
But then again, I have Hynick relatively high and finesse righties are even more of a concern. Weiser could lay claim to as high as that on my list on any given day, I’m not sure why I decided to leave him off this afternoon. He’ll probably find his way back on when we start doing the PuRPs poll later this week.
Catcher Lars Davis
He hasn’t performed very well for a 3rd round pick and now this. He is probably scratching his head wondering what his future is.
Will they repeat him at Asheville even though he is 23 or back up Rosario?
I'm guessing both will be at Modesto.
Part of the reason why the Rockies pushed Rosario so far is because of Weinstein’s presence there, he could help Davis as well. I always wonder what if with Davis as the Brewers Jonathan Lucroy was drafted just before him and if he had only slid a couple more slots… oh well.
Rosters
I see Tulsa has the Roster on their website, and you know some of the other assignments. Do you have rosters for Modesto & Colorado Springs?
I don't get full rosters ahead of anybody,
I do hear from a couple of well placed birds on certain players, but that’s about it.
No Prob...
Just wondering where people we know are heading. Still cannot believe David Patton is in the Bigs already.
Just got an email from the Nuts...
Rotation(5):
Connor Graham, Cory Riordan, Kenneth Durst, Bruce Billings, Brandon Durden
Bullpen(7):
Matthew Reynolds, Don Taylor, Austin Chambliss, Sean Jarrett, Craig Baker, Edgmer Escalona, Joseph Williamson
Outfield(5):
Charles Blackmon, Brian Rike, Kevin Clark, Jay Cox, Michael Mitchell
Infield(5):
Jason Van Kooten, Matt Repec, Radames Nazzario, Jeff Cunningham, Warren Schaeffer
Catchers(2):
Wilin Rosario, Lars Davis
Its only 24, so there is still 1 slot open.
maybe they were hoping Everth Cabrera would miraculously return
Kenny Durst’s promotion is the biggest surprise for me here outside of Rosario, Etkin didn’t mention him, but that has me rethinking things.
Little strange
Not to see Hector Gomez here, is it not? I figured he’d be here unless he’s got some sort of injury still.
Staying on the sunny side of Blake Street since 1993.

He must be in extended, again...
Or maybe he’s the 25th guy they’re missing. I’ll try and e-mail some people and see what’s up with him.
Modesto seems right for him
Especially with that infield – my word, is that an uninteresting crop from a prospect-watching standpoint.

I was thinking that...
Schaeffer’s getting a chance to show off some without Cabrera, he may be the best of the lot at this point since Van Kooten seems to have topped out, possibly Nazario, who I’m sort of surprised hasn’t been switched to pitcher with how long he’s been in the system. I’ve never been a big Repec or Cunningham believer. Nice outfield, though, with Blackmon and a potential sleeper/rebound candidate in Rike and two solid catchers, one who’s a legit superprospect and the other another sleeper.
I’m very impressed with the bullpen, Chambliss is another one who skipped Asheville and he’s put up some pretty numbers the last couple of seasons in Tri-City. He’s a legit relief prospect, I think, and five of the other six might be. The rotation’s interesting with the finesse lefty Durst beating out Friedrich for a slot and Durden, who apparently didn’t work out in relief last season. Graham’s the best pitching prospect on the squad now and I’ll be curious to see what Riordan and Billings do against a little tougher competition.
I know it's not likely
but is it possible Friedrich will jump to Tulsa? I found it strange that he’s not on this roster.

The linked article above says he's starting in Asheville
And the Tulsa rotation is set as: Chacin, Roe, Deduno, Weiser and Rogers.
