The Dominican pitcher throws a ball to a Venezuelan hitter

and gets injured. On comes a pitcher from Canada. He throw a ball over his head, and the hitter twists down and pulls a muscle. The pinch-hitter is a LH American batter, so the manager brings in LH Puerto Rican pitcher, who throws a ball. The pitcher passes out from dehydration and is replaced by a LH prospect from Panama who throws ball four.

And then you have an International Walk

that might actually get somewhere. The debates where both sides are so firmly entrenched in their ideas and have become so familiar with opposing arguments are the ones that never seem to go anywhere. I have my own opinions on what I think should be done, but at the end of the day, it won’t really matter that much because the discussion won’t go anywhere.

Yeah

It seems some of the most important arguments are the ones that never go anywhere. It’s why I tend to avoid them completely.

Well then,

I guess I feel that. I try to avoid contentious political argument, myself.

We really can’t go 162-0, you know.

It does

But it’s a long season. You can’t have mood swings after every single game, at least now when there were still plenty of positives.

Game 2 should be fun

with a monster pitching duel between Haren and Jimenez.

I can see it being 1-1 in the 7th.

by A.J. Haefele on Apr 6, 2009 4:49 PM MDT up reply actions

Yeah....

was saying the same thing. With Haren facing Jimenez, I wouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow’s game went something like 1-0.

by DbacksSkins on Apr 6, 2009 4:52 PM MDT up reply actions

Look at it this way

the offense was NAILS despite facing an elite starter. Three hitters we wanted to see perform well to get off to a good start – Iannetta (soph slump), Tulo (traditionally slow starts) and Smith (perilous starting position?) ALL hit huge home runs. And Stewart did fine at 2B

Really the only down side of today was Cook….he was just WAY down.

by Andrew T. Fisher on Apr 6, 2009 4:52 PM MDT up reply actions

Yep

Disappointing as it is to lose, there were those bright spots. I’m still scratching my head over some of Hurdle’s moves, but that is certainly nothing new. We’ll be fine. As TuloRocks2008 pointed out, Cookie won’t be down like this many times this season. On to Game 2 where we win 2-1!

Exhilarating, not exhausting!

But yeah, the losing thing isn’t ideal. But we saw enough to be excited, right? And only Cookie having an off day prevented a convincing win. Right guys? Right?

The Nuggets are good

but that record is super deceiving. They can pound the non-playoff teams all day, but until they start truly competing with the elite teams, I won’t believe.

Well another opening day against AZ

and yet another typical result. Just ask yourself when the last time a Rockie pitcher had back to back good years. Pencil Cook for 7-14 this year.
