If we’re trying to compete this year, you switch him out, if we’re not, it doesn’t matter as much and you can let him learn with the Rockies, he’ll learn as much at the MLB level as at AAA.

la rouche has been a decent player for the Bucko’s for some time… I wonder hy they havn’t shipped him off…seeing as the pirates have a similiar history of not supporting a winning club…
That's a loaded comment.
A guy like LaRoche will only be one of the decent guys on a winning club, sort of like Hawpe or Atkins (when he’s playing well) or others. He’s not a centerpiece. The Pirates and the Rockies seem to get confused by that.

I've been reading about Preacher Roe..
and how he used the spitter to be effective on breaking pitches. He only used the spitter occassionally, but the threat of it kept a hitter off-balance.

the first year he was kinda shocked but it was early and he looked rough but he thought it was cool and this year he was very gracious and a little less hung over it seemed…The atmosphere during spring training is so cool. walking around the minor camps and watching the guys work out BP, the whole deal…Definetly my favorite holiday of the year
