Rockies 4, Braves 12: Nine-run fourth inning for Braves dooms (not in the Chris Iannetta way) the Rockies
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote:
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."
But he never met the Rockies, who have repeatedly committed the same blunders, the same absurdities, the same old nonsense. Case in point (and you can find more than just this one), the Rockies allowed nine runs in the fourth inning.

The umps give them a choice...
…throw a ball, or throw a meatball.
How’re you supposed to succeed that way?
so how long are we going to keep blaming the umps (or whatever else) before we start accepting that this team is garbage?
This really sums up the problem with Rockies fans, no accountability whatsoever, it’s always some external force preventing the Rockies from winning, not the manager/owners/GM/players/everything else in this rotten organization.

I said in the game thread...
…that the ‘62 Mets were better…
…but that doesn’t change the fact that JDLR threw pitches into the exact same locations as Vasquez, they got called balls when they were strikes for Vasquez, and that’s why he walked a man with the bases loaded…not to mention that it meant he had a choice of keep throwing balls or serve up that HR that blew the game open…
…now, Belisle, I duuno, he might legitimately be bad…
Perfect Wrap
It couldn’t have been said any better.

We need to turn around the game to our side.

I turned off the post game
when they went to commercial, but that sounds like something Clint would say as that is something he has been saying all season (sort of). Come on, just play a cleaner game defensively and I will be a little happier.

What else is he supposed to say, though?
I guess he could pull a Papi and just say “We stink,” but that’s not his style and never has been, at least in the media.
OK, Front Office or owners or whoever.....it's time for a change.
Pretty soon everyone’s going be scheduling us for Homecoming.

Is Hurdle trying to get fired?
I’m not asking this question in a rhetorical way or in a joking way, I’m seriously asking. Who in their right mind, when on the hot seat, puts that lineup on the field and expects to win. I know we have a lot of guys scuffling, but seriously why does every guy on the bench need 2 starts a week. I just don’t get it.
I know the pitching let us down tonight, but we didn’t have a chance anyways. If I were a pitcher I would be feeling the pressure to be perfect, and its tough to pitch that way.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
Subconsiously, maybe....
but I doubt Hurdle really wants to get fired. His penchant for playing lesser players too much and superior players too little is nothing new. He was a 25th guy himself, and has always given preferential treatment to the scrubs “to keep them fresh”.
I think the team was demoralized tonight when their erstwhile team leader, Tulowitzki, was publicly thrown under the bus by Hurdle for being too aggressive swinging at a high pitch. Ironically, Tulo has been one of our more patient hitters this year, and his replacement, Q, not only can’t hit, but his noodle arm (compared to Tulo’s) extended that inning and 6 runs scored after he failed to get the 3rd out.
Team morale is probably at rock-bottom right now, and that’s more cause for Hurdle getting fired than anything he did with tonight’s lineup.
Why did Vazquez get pulled after only 5 innings?
He was only at 71 pitches. Sure, the game was all but over by then, but the Braves don’t have an offday for nearly two weeks…why use your bullpen if you don’t need to?

According to the broadcast, it was because that inning went on so long
It had the effect of being a rain delay. I dunno.

Okay, I guess that makes a bit of sense.
Still seems like a bit of an overreaction to me. Not that it made any difference to the end result.
So
Hurdle plays Little League, and benches Tulo for swinging at a high first pitch. This is the same Hurdle who continually left Outkins in the line up, even batting clean-up. (There’s a really naughty thought running thru my head about that, but I can’t post it here.)
The people I feel sorriest for right now are those good souls who work at Coors Field, and will undoubtedly be working less and less as attendance falls off into oblivion this summer. This is really sad for the non-profit groups that run various concession stands to raise money for their organizations. As if times were not rough enough.
There are some hard choices to be made by the ownership in the next few days/weeks. I don’t envy them the job, but, if employee performance is having a negative impact on the bottom line, well…let’s just say that most for-profit companies would do something about it.

There’s not a chance in hell that Hurdle opens the homestand monday against the hated Dodgers as the manager.
Is Baylor fit enough to be the interim or does O’Dowd choose Jim Tracy instead?
Or is there another guy out there who gets the 4 1/2 month job?
I think O'Dowd goes with Tracy or Baylor as an interim.
Don’t think he would be allowed to go outside for a permanent manager until his contract situation is resolved. I just hope that when Hurdle goes so does Apadoca.

really?
not a chance in hell? I’d say there’s a >90% chance that Hurdle is the manager for this homestand and probably the rest of the year. This cheap piece of crap ownership group isn’t going to pay two managers, especially when the fans don’t give a crap anyways and will keep going out to the games.

AJ Hinch already has a job. ;-)

Seems I didn't miss much, huh
It’s okay guys, we’ll sweep the Dodgers. Thing is, we probably will. That’s baseball.
