Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Game #40: Aaron Cook vs. Kris Medlen

Colorado Rockies at Atlanta Braves, May 21, 2009 5:10 PM MDT

For more about Kris Medlen, who makes his MLB debut against the Rockies this evening, check out this article from Baseball Intellect.

The lineup I think speaks for itself, the only saving grace is that the hitters being used do seem to be at least close to their most efficient order. We will see if Hurdle's faith in Atkins and Barmes and Spilly as starters will pay off and start saving his employment.

Go Rockies!

Lion in Winter reference?

I’m a long-time fan of that show, and the “pork in the treetops” line is probably my favorite zinger in a play full of them. Nice work!

Denny Stark had some crazy AAA numbers once, James McDonald was an ace in Vegas

I’m a lot more interested in what he has and how he uses it than the numbers he’s put up. In this case, he’s not quite as good as those figures make him appear, but of course, the Rockies have been making this kind of pitcher look like a Cy Young candidate anyway.

by Rox Girl on May 21, 2009 5:02 PM MDT up reply actions

Your last point is a lot of what I'm getting at

I realize minor league numbers don’t always translate, but he was also rated as 98 and 99 by the Cube.

I don't know that Fowler is a better leadoff candidate than Spilly.

Fowler’s been struggling lately. I want the kid to succeed and all, but you have to wonder if maybe he could have used some time in AAA.

But it is nice to see Ianetta in a more appropriate spot.

by RoxnSox09 on May 21, 2009 4:32 PM MDT up reply actions

It's good to see

Iannetta in the fifth spot

http://twitter.com/blakebomber

by BlakeBomber on May 21, 2009 4:13 PM MDT reply actions

No one else fits the spot right now

The way Hawpe and Helton are hitting you want them back-to-back and Atkins doesn’t deserve 5 or 6. Dreamy’s coming around lately and has earned the spot.

I just find it more conveniently valued because it seems downtown and around LoDo you can either stay at a cut rate dive or have to pay out the eyeballs for a room. I’d rather stay down there and then make day/night trips into the city.

I think Baylor needs to get that under control b4 he can be considered for manager. Jim Tracy, tho…

If Hurdle would just shut up and let Tulo figure it out on his own, this would not be a problem. The more you tell Tulo, the more he starts to think, and the more he thinks, the harder he grips the bat, the harder he grips the bat, the more he sucks.
