Game #42: Jason Marquis vs. Armando Galarraga
Colorado Rockies at Detroit Tigers, May 23, 2009 5:05 PM MDT
The Rockies will try to even up the series against the Tigers tonight at Comerica Park in Detroit (first pitch is at 5:05 PM MT). Jason Marquis was absolutely brilliant his last time out in Atlanta, giving up only one run while hurling a complete game. Hopefully, he can churn out a repeat performance and shut down a dangerous Detroit offense.
Oh, and let's hope for no (or at least, less) baserunning blunders. The Rox should be able to get some guys on base so that can at least come into play, as Tigers starter Armando Galarraga has allowed 43 hits - and 7 home runs - in 41 innings pitched.
GO ROCKIES!

Funny
how we can’t get a third baseman to consistently produce, but neither thirdbaseman is getting consistent at bats right now. That is one position we need a little bit more production out of.

Good point.
This is the biggest example of why I think Hurdle should be fired. If the players were producing, he would not have to tinker, adjust, play make poor decisions with the line ups.

I don't
know how he would make individual players produce. I don’t know what each player is working on and how they are going about fixing what is wrong. I, however, cannot blame Hurdle for the individual problems of the players. I can only hope his is playing matchups and giving opportunities for each player to take the positoin by producing day in and day out. The one who can do this will be starting regularly while the other is benched. This is the reason Barmes has been starting at second lately, he cannot be benched right now with his preformance and the performance of the other possible second basemen, although Q hasn’t had many chances.

okay but seriously
Atkins as a DH? can’t think of anyone with a hotter bat? anyone?! Considering how close it was yesterday, I’d rather have murton or something as DH
if you're reading this, it means my undying support for your team will result in its failure.

If he's just Outkins today
It’s going to be nothing but another case of Hurdle looking mighty stupid.

I would have rather had Murton DHing also, assuming he's decided to give Spilly a day off
Atkins has got on base more the last couple of days, but he’s still not getting hits, and neither is Stewie, putting them both in the lineup seems odd, though I hope I’m proved wrong
The Yankee's new ball park is ridiculous
They need a humidor :)
I would have anyone hit other than Atkins...
seriously, we get an opportunity to have a DH and we have our worst hitter in that spot? At least put him in the nine hole.

though honestly it doesn’t seem to matter who we start at third, they generalyl stink
That's what it was last night
and they didn’t win. But not many of them did well last night. Now we have two of our worst hitters in the lineup, Atkins/Stewart.

I am not Hurdle’s biggest fan, nor am I fan of the way Atkins is playing….however, if you are a fan of this team whether you want them both gone or not…the thing is theyre not going anywhere rifht now. And I do believe Atkins will start hitting better..the question is when.

hit and run, stewart can’t dig a low throw from iannetta, one run scores on the error, laird singles to tie it
he swung and missed on a hit and run
Ianetta threw it low to third, but Stewart should have caught it, it got by him and Ordonez scored, then Laird blooped one up the middle to tie it
soft line drive to center by Laird to tie the game
after a double steal where Iannetta threw to third and Stewart missed the ball moving everyone up a base. Iannetta was charged with the error (LAME!!).

I love Greg Reynolds and I may be slightly ashamed to admit it.
If so, that might be the proverbial nail in the coffin.

Great outing by Marquis...
What a great pickup he has been.

This I don't understand
he’s been pitching really well, let him finish and then hand it to Street, not Flores.
