Ken Rosenthal thinks Rockies to begin selloff...
This is something you will normally see from Ken Rosenthal when a team is in the tank like the Rockies. He sees Hawpe as a fit for pitching rich Tampa. Atkins is receiving no interest and a mention of the albatross contract of Helton's. What do you guys think? I'm ready to see CarGo cruising the field, but secretly want to clone Hawpe so he stays.

Wade Davis and Desmond Jennings please
Can we give back Hammel too while we are at it?
kind of a joke
I agree that Hammel would be good as an unorthodox bullpen guy. I love his curveball.
Oh, by the way
Please give us Davis. I have been a fan of the guy for a while, and really want him on the team.
Why the Rays?
They just made a commitment to defense, have Burrell at DH and Pena at 1st, and are leading the AL in runs/game. I’m sure they’re a good match for the Rockies, but why would the Rays be interested in Hawpe?
RF is the only position......
that isn’t filled. It’s a 3 headed monster. Gabe Gross, Gabe Kapler and Ben Zobrist with Matt Joyce waiting in the wings.

Matt Joyce has a wOBA of .402 in Durham
.330 is average – there’s another head scratcher for you.

Rosenthal re: trading Todd says
“The team, which has the second-worst record in the NL, appears headed for a selloff. Third baseman Garrett Atkins is drawing little interest. First baseman Todd Helton has a full no-trade clause, and the Rockies know they would need to pay at least half of the more than $40 million he is owed in 2010 and ’11 to even stand a chance of moving him.”
If we could save 20 million a year, why wouldn’t we try this (assuming you could find a trade partner that Todd would approve)?
Baseball players are smarter than football players. How often do you see a baseball team penalized for too many men on the field?

I bet we can get
maybe 3-4 good prospects from the rays for Hawpe, if they need him.
Rebuild and Restock.
Joyce is shredding AAA right now
There’s no need to acquire Hawpe, I’m afraid.
Why they’re holding him down is beyond me.

Haha...right
Price for Hawpe would be ridonculous. Their FO has shown to capability of some strong moves…Young for Garza and Bartlett?

which happened before last year.
