PrintThe Jim Tracy as interim Rockies manager era begins tonight, but it's hard for me to expect a significant shift from the get go. Still, we'll see how the team performs when the weight of trying to play for a man's job has been lifted. Trying to play for the season also seems out the window already, so what's left to play for? Maybe a little respect.
Please win, Rockies.
I'll have more later about today's news and yesterday's minor league results, in the meantime, let's see what happens when the boat gets rocked a bit.

The Padres are my middle team in the division
I get less fired up watching the Rox play the Padres than any other NL West team. I’m indifferent to them, whereas I like the Dodgers, and hate the Giants and Diamondbacks furiously.

I absolutely despise the Dodgers w/ everything I have, really, really dislike the D-Backs, don’t like the Giants, and indifferent to the Pads. I guess I just can’t stand Dodger fans and they have owned us every year of our existence, so that makes me hate them more.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
My like for the Dodgers comes simply from the fact that I like most of their players and my connection to LA.
Nothing to do with their fans. Giants have worse fans though, IMO.

I think the bullpen is probably the area where a manager can do the most direct damage.
As someone who still holds the players accountable 995 of the time, I can’t deny that mismanagement of the bullpen is a lot more easy than mismanagement of other areas.

I'm really hoping
that under this new Management, Smith gets more starts. He has done nothing but hit this season and still can’t get any at bats.
He's hitting .227 for May in 44 ABs
but has, of course, suffered from inconsistent playing time. Like the rest of the team.

The infield shall be a 90-foot square. The outfield shall be the area between the two foul lines formed by extending two sides of the square. The distance of 320 feet or more along the foul lines, and 400 feet or more to center field is preferable. The infield shall be graded so that the base lines and home plate are level. The pitchers’s plate shall be 10 inches above the level of home plate. The degree of slope from a point 6 inches in front of the pitcher’s plate to a point 6 feet toward home plate shall be 1 inch to 1 foot, and such degree of slope shall be uniform. The infield and outfield, including the boundary lines, are fair territory adn all other area is foul territory.

He's a solid backup so long as the pitchers are vigilant about the running game
