Rockies lose first game under Tracy - The Denver Post
In his recap of yesterday's game, Patrick Saunders concentrates on Jorge De La Rosa's struggles, and there's a quote from Jim Tracy on how he believes the next 11-games should be the start of something good for the Rockies.

Buchholz and Iannetta Injury Update - The Denver Post
Taylor Buchholz and Chris Iannetta both seem to be eager to get back to playing. Buchholz finally started throwing to live batters again, but it'll be another month before we see him again.
Hawpe making some noise for all-star consideration - The Denver Post
Who should be the Rockies' All-Star representative this year? Brad Hawpe is making a strong case. It was brought up earlier in the week, but Jason Marquis should also receive a look.

I'm all for "Fire Woody".
Baseball players are smarter than football players. How often do you see a baseball team penalized for too many men on the field?

Yes he is however some of his comments were right on
Tracy did make some serious mistakes in this game that cost us some runs and he pointed to 2 very specific examples that I thought were right on. He also mentioned the Rox may get a boost in the short term but they are what their record says they are and will eventually fall back into that, and I agree w/ that too. Obviously he was just being stupid when he was talking about firing Tracy and he will get this year at least, but any manager would have a tough time w/ this team, especially playing this way.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
Jason Marquis as an All Star just seems wrong
I’d pick Street over him.

My vote would be for Hawpe
He’s currently third in the NL amongst all hitters in OPS behind Ibanez and Pujols. He still won’t get in on public votes, but there’s no one else who’s been as consistently excellent as him this year for us.
true dat
He’s also 3rd in wOBA, and Beltran is like .001 behind him.

Rockies All=Star Rep ???
Jorge De La Rosa. This is an easy one for me. Best player on the Rockies season so far?…well no. BUT..he totally is representative of one person what the Rockies season has been so far. Lots of talent, and at times great performance that in the end…looks like crap, and bewilderingly so. He’s FAR better then he looks, but in the end his record and stats say something different.
Just like the Rockies of 09
That's pretty funny
You know your team is struggling when someone nominates an 0-6 pitcher with a 5.43 ERA with any amount of seriousness

His 3.82 tRA says he's a stud.

Oh I know he's much better than those numbers
but he won’t get a sniff with them, whether his tRA was 3.82 or 30.82

and these 3 posts
totally make my point. One set of stats says stud…..other set of stats say dud……
Rockies 09
Hey does anyone think we could get something
for Mike McCoy? He’s destroying the ball in AAA. We should at least give him Q’s roster spot.

OK screw trading him
Here’s the new plan. Mike McCoy and EYJ up, Q and Stew down (just so Stew can get more consistent playing time and avoid stagnation – I know he won’t learn anything in AAA, but maybe this can be a confidence booster or something while Atkins gets traded)
This way, we can kick the tires on EYJ and give Tulo some more job competition.
Of course I’m not RUNNING this team, so….

Q would have to be DFA'd, and due to his defense I think he'd get plucked on waivers
Of course, he is the very definition of replacement level talent, and has reached his upside already, so if there is someone down in triple A who is better than him (i.e. McCoy) then I have no problem with exposing him.
Stewart is an odd one for me, I don’t know what they should do with him, my only suggestion is that he should start hitting better!
I like this suggestion
and I would like to see the Rox do it. I have heard Tracy loves to run, so lets get someone up here who can run besides Fowler. I wanna see what EYJ can do, and its not as if Barmes is so good he can’t be replaced, although he is playing much better. He could also give us speed off the bench when Barmes is playing. As far as Stew, he is not in a good place right now and I don’t think he will get there playing 2 times a week, lets send him down to CS and let him get some AB’s, and bring him back w/ his confidence high and Atkins gone.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
I have no problem giving away Q
would he get claimed? gee….I doubt it, but it could happen…..would it be easy to find a no hit good glove utility player? No…there is literally dozens of those guys in the minors.
Welcome to the band wagon!
see I’m not crazy…just WAY out front. The trailblazer out front….gets the most arrows.
Ok…I maybe crazy.
hey I'm not on your Tulo bandwagon
And I wasn’t convinced that EYJ was ready to come up, and even then, I’m not convinced he’ll be better than a bench player. I’d LIKE him to be, but I can’t say he would be with any authority.

Here's a link to the MLB.com NL leaders for the Allstar vote, as of today
it makes me sick. I know that Brad wasn’t going to get in on Public Votes, but not even the top 15? Manny is number 5? The world is stupid.
Sidenote, I’d take CDI over Russell Martin any day.
Wait, the Rockies get no attention or respect?
You get right out of town
I’m boohooing, in full knowledge that we’re awful right now, but seriously, we wouldn’t be turning any heads even if we were in 2nd place or something.

I know, but I figured he'd make at least the Top 15
I said that I knew that he wasn’t going to make it on the Public Voting, but still I figured he’d do better than that. This time last year, Matt was fourth in the all star voting. I know, he had done the homerun derby already, and this was right after the WS, but it shows that we get some credit. I wasn’t expecting Brad to be #4, not even #10, but I figured he’d be on there somewhere.
Do the Brewers have the best promo campaigns for it?
Fair enough on Ryan Braun being in the OF, and I suppose on Fielder being in the conversation for first, but Hardy at Short, Hall at 3rd and Kendall at Catcher? All three of those are having sub-par years, and I wouldn’t consider them the ‘superstars’ that normally get there by default (e.g. Rollins second in voting at short, hahahahaha)
Ryan Braun. I hate that guy, baseball-wise.
I guess we should just be lucky that we live in the NL, where there are no Yankees/ Red Sox to shadow us anymore than we already are.
None of the guys that you listed (Hardy, Hall, Kendall) are at the top, but still, I get what you mean. I think they’re all somewhat of a household name (for people that love baseball) , but that’s a lot of Brewers for one ballot.
Does only the #1 vote getter (of first three for outfield, I guess) get an automatic invitation, or is it the first two people, for like, a backup and such?
And also, this is random: How on earth have the Marlins managed to keep Hanley Ramirez? Does he really have that long of a contract?
The managers pick the backups.
So yes, only the top vote getter (top three for outfield) get the automatic invite.
Manny for All-Star!
Reasons why Manny SHOULD be an All-star
1) would show the media just how much the public cares about steroids (not much)
2) Shows what a joke “fan voting” really is. The unwashed masses are pretty stupid lot at times when it comes to sports. (see the Denver Posts comments)
3) Manny and Dodgers SHOULD get to play in the All-star game. As the Dodgers will most likely be the National League reps in the World Series, the out come of the All-star game directly affects the Dodgers. Maybe Manny would actually show up and play.
