Monday Pebble Report: Carlos Gonzalez keeps on hitting
The Springs, W 12-4: Carlos Gonzalez hit two two-run homers (9) last night, and Matt Miller hit a two-run homer (4). Gonzlez went 3-for-5 and scored three times. Eric Young, Jr. swiped his 30th base. Franklin Morales allowed two runs in four innings and struck out five.
Tulsa, W 8-1: The Drillers exploded for seven runs in the first inning. Most of the damage came as a result of singles and errors. At one point, Brad Corley and Cole Garner pulled of a double steal of home plate and second base. Daniel Mayora and Darin Holcomb each had three hits. Samuel Deduno allowed two runs in seven innings and struck out five. Both runs were allowed on a homer in the third. His GO-FO was 10-6.
Modesto, L 7-10: How's this for a stat line: 4-for-4 with 3 triples. That's what Jeff Cunningham did last night; however, he drove in only one run. Wilin Rosario hit a two-run homer (2) and drove in a total of four runs. Charlie Blackmon stole his 13th base. Cory Riordan allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings, Randall Taylor saw three runs score, Matthew Reynolds walked three and allowed two runs, and Edgmer Escalona allowed the walkoff three-run homer.
Asheville, W 12-3: Delta Cleary (2-for-5, 2 RBI) and Carlos Martinez (2-for-5, 1 RBI) each hit a triple in the contest, and David Christensen hit his seventh homer of the season. Kiel Roling went 4-for-6 with three RBI. Scott Robinson, Jordan Pacheco, Thomas Field, Tyler Massey, and Ryan Peisel each had three hits. Ethan Hollingsworth struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings and allowed the runs.

don't you have to bring up CarGo and send down Murton or Smith?
The guy’s earning a trip up, IMO.

I don't think you send down Smith...
Rather, I think you try to find a deal for Murton, Spilborghs, or Hawpe.

Is it a bit early to be able to find any trade partners?
And of those three, who’s the most tradeable? Hawpe because of the year he’s having? Spilly or Murton because they’re low cost?

Hawpe's defenitely going to be the one most easily traded.
Murton I think it’s a guessing game. Would scouts go with the fact that he tore up the minors? Or would they wait until he has more MLB exposure?
Spilly, no.
I think Murton is the most easily traded
I just don’t think we’d get much of anything for him

CarGo has to get the call up.
He has been absolutely bruising AAA pitching so far. I’ve been to a couple Sky Sox games this year and CarGo has been damn impressive. If we are going to struggle this year I’d rather be watching a guy like him develop with the big club than guys like Smith or Murton who obviously have limited ceilings.
Same goes for EY JR. over Quintanilla. Does Q even have a purpose being on this team right now? What is the logic behind his roster spot? I fully understand EY JR. won’t be getting as much playing time if he were to join the Rockies and that is definitely something to consider, but think I speak for a lot of fans when I say, hey, we’re 13 games back, how about we give some of these prospects who are clearly shining in AAA a shot and give folks a reason to come to Coors Field other than to see the opposing teams and drink beer.

Great response.
And you are absolutely spot on about Quintanilla.

Well...
…I guess all that running my mouth I’ve done about Edgmer Escalona really came back to bite me.
Oh well, I still like the guy as a solid relief prospect.

The Modesto Pen
The same can be said for that entire Modesto bullpen. None of them are premium prospects, but Escalona, Taylor, Reynolds, Williamson, and Baker are all having solid years. They had all done a good job of avoiding those “blow-up” innings where they give up 2, 3, or 4 runs until last night, when Reynolds, Taylor and Escalona all struggled. I do agree that there’s a good chance a couple of those guys pay dividends down the road as cheap, solid bullpen help.
Just curious
Is there a hittracker site to tell us where Gonzo’s HRs have gone to? I’m curious if he’s spreading them around or just pulling all of them.

I'd like to see that as well.
I’d try to find one myself but I suck at the Internet and would only fail.
