Not too shabby. I like taking flyers on college closers with solid numbers.

So long as our scouts sign off on their stuff. I’m really curious about what we make of Bargas in this regard.

Would the Rox consider

you know, 2B or SS in their drafting? Seems to be a problem area for us…

by biondino on Jun 11, 2009 10:08 AM MDT reply actions

We've got a major MI talent on the radar from the Dominican that we're the frontrunners for, Rossell Herrera

According to a Kiley McDaniel Baseball Prospectus article from the other day. And we have Hector Gomez, EY2 in the minors, and while they are still relatively far away, I came away impressed with both Thomas Field and Carlos Martinez after watching them last night.

by Rox Girl on Jun 11, 2009 10:15 AM MDT up reply actions

The other point being....

We still need to have 2B/SS at Tri-City and Casper this year….

by sg8335aa on Jun 11, 2009 10:17 AM MDT up reply actions

We did draft a couple of decent filler guys yesterday,

I’m guessing Angelys Nina fills one slot as well. It’s funny that last season we were complaining about too many middle infielders at those levels.

An article on Green is at Colorado Baseball Insider

Here’s a link.

I’m guessing he’s got to have some sort of pretty strong college commitment, I’m looking for where right now.

never mind, it was the next link down.

Wichita State.

Wichita State’s a big time program, but this one seems at least a little feasible to lure him off of, we’ll see.

Green's a stud

Never seen a high school player run like he does. That makes two of my brother’s current teammates that were drafted after Anderson from Mtn. Vista went in round 28 to the Astros yesterday (he’s a Mizzou commit).

Staying on the sunny side of Blake Street since 1993.

We like those rangy cf guys,

He, Higgins and Thomas are all similar in that respect that speed is their predominant tool right now, but others are possible.

He's a high school kid.

Seems like he’d be better off going to college being drafted this late, right?

by holly96 on Jun 11, 2009 12:06 PM MDT up reply actions

Probably...

If there was some real chance of him playing for the organization right now, he would have gone earlier, I’m guessing.

Tyler Wallace, 3B, Eaton HS

He’s expected to go to college, right?

by Rox Girl on Jun 11, 2009 12:08 PM MDT reply actions

That's

Eaton (CA) High School

Typo

on MLB’s part. Tyler went to Eaton, played for the Reds. Good hitter, but there’s no way he skips college.

Sterling absolutely reeks of nepotism. I think even he’d be surprised he was drafted. I suppose look for Monfort to complete the Eaton triumvirate and nab Logan Hall.

Clinton McKenney, RHP, Clemson

Clemson’s getting quite a few really late draft picks, Oakland just picked their CF.

Yankees select Patrick White from West Virginia,

It sounded like the guy started saying that they’d like him listed as a quarterback before correcting himself.

related to

Chad Tracy but not Chad Tracy.
