Carlos Gonzalez Nickname
This was originally a FanPost by NYROX, but I deleted it with the intention of reposting it as a short, discussion-starting FanShot. When I did, however, I was unable to do what I thought I would be able to do. As such, I am reposting this as a FanPost. My apologies, NYROX.
In any case, here's my thought process evolution for Carlos Gonzalez's nickname:
Carlos Gonzalez
CarGon (shortened)
Argon (rhymes with)
Krypton (noble gases)
Kryptonite (popular culture--also trying to neutralize Rockies fan's negative perceptions of Holliday trade)
Gonzalez will hereby be known as Kryptonite.
Nailed it.
Thoughts, Rowbots?
Eat. Drink. Be Merry. But the above FanPost does not necessarily reflect the attitudes, opinions, or views of Purple Row's staff (unless, of course, it's written by the staff [and even then, it still might not]).

Meh.
Rule number 1 about nicknames: don’t force them. This one is a more painful stretch than Mo Vaughn doing the splits.
I mean, I guess you can call him whatever you want, but I’m going to go ahead and stick to Carlos.

Nah
CarGo is good, but I’ll probably just stick to Gonzo.
As an aside, does Gonzalez look like Moises Alou, or is it just me?
"Horton is win."

CarGo seems to be the most natural shortening of his name.
CarGon seems like a sort-of-awkward added consonant.

Yes but
it goes better with long gone as in “That one’s long gone for CarGon”
Plus CarGo reminds me of a big ol’ slow cargo ship or plane.

I always liked “Best Player in the World Who Wrote the Best Song in the World,” but for some reason I couldn’t choose my own nickname. Instead, I got “Fish”

Unfortunately, I was the victim of the stupid "First Letter-Last Syllable" nickname
Although as far as those go, I guess “D-Lu” isn’t that bad.

nope
Three syllables don’t work well for cheering, and I didn’t tell my teammates my middle initial because then they would ask the question: “What is your middle name? Fitzgerald?” Which takes away from my already limited playing time.

Old bears are a good thing.
Baseball players are smarter than football players. How often do you see a baseball team penalized for too many men on the field?

I think it's really cool that you and I are probably the only ones around here who understand that. :)

I didn't know either
but considering how much you two have mentioned Baylor in the last couple days, the mascot is a Bear, all signs point to this being an educated guess. It would have been my guess too, he just posted first.

el gato pequeno!
or some derivation of — in homage to el gato grande…Seems their style of play is similar…:)
Perhaps el gato dulce?
Sorry I’m late to the nickname party…
watch out for the potted plants...
