Stupid Gameday quit putting up highlights after Ubaldo's hit.
I really want to see the squeeze. Darn.
It was not a great bunt

Tracy going with Ubaldo for 8th inning...
Hurdle would have replaced him, thus showing one difference between these two managers.
Zactly....
Tracy sending Ubaldo out there after 104 pitches to do the 8th inning was something Hurdle NEVER did here in 7 years with anyone. The squeeze bunt and slug bunts were creative, unlike Hurdle’s excessive bunting in early inning unimportant situations.
TRACY >>>>>>>HURDLE
I like this move
because then we build Ubaldo’s arm strength and he can pitch more in the future

When the Rockies were really losing badly this season
We probably didn’t sound too friendly, either.
No, but not even close to some of the stuff over there.
Our most maligned Rockies player doesn’t get even close to the degree of insults theirs do. And thank goodness for that.
This strikes me as strange.

Not really..
…I’m actually not sold on high-K pitchers, because you have to put out close to 9 pitches/inning, even if you don’t throw a single ball…
…whereas if you pitch to contact, you can get through an inning with as few as 3 pitches…
…it’s no coincidence that contact pitchers last longer in the bigs, with the exception of the Unit…

WOOT!
9 in a row now? Whoda thunk it. Just 2 weeks ago we were pretty close to the dregs. Dang, I wish I could make the BBBQ and game tomorrow. Would be great fun. Stoopid weddings.
And how far back are we now?
Not to be a turd in the punch bowl
Was it necessary for Ubaldo to reach around 130 pitches? Seems a tad unnecessary to me. I suppose the thinking is that with the day off on Monday, Ubaldo will have an additional day off, but I’d be more comfortable had he left before the 9th.
130 should be ok once in a while.
Options in the pen were fairly limited given usage the past few days.
Like once a year
Don’t like to wear out a starter, especially one that throws hard like Uballdo.
BUT on the flip side, Uballdo has seem to me needing to take a step from being the kid prospect, to the star. That 9th inning seemed to be that message from Tracy that Uballdo WAS THE MAN. Small stuff like that can be HUGE in a players development.
Yes
I like the idea because it builds a pitchers stamina and as the season wears on he will be able to pitch deeper into games with less worry about a pitch count. These guys are major league pitchers and they should be able to hit 130 regularly by the end of July without injury concerns, unlike 10 year olds who have a long career ahead and are constantly throwing 75 pitches.

Except
The data suggests it’s not healthy down the line. It doesn’t build strength, it leads to arm problems.
And I’m less upset about it if it’s either necessary (down the stretch in a key game when the bullpen pitched extras the night before or something similar) or something’s on the line (no-hitter, shutout even, something like that). But to go 130 pitches in a game where he gave up 4 runs and walked more than he struck out…. I mean… Really? That’s a bad managerial decision. Point blank.

I don't want him
having that many pitches every time out, but the ability to do so when it is necessary as you say.

This would be all great and everything if it was true.
With young arms it’s good to be cautious, and not extend their workload too much over what they’ve already done in the past and build strength gradually. But a low (less than 110) in game pitch count for a healthy arm in its prime that’s shown an ability to handle a fairly substantial workload isn’t warranted. I think if Jimenez had actually reached 130, we would have seen him pulled, it’s why Tracy went out there with two outs, it’s why Corpas was warming up quickly, but I see no problem with leaving that as his limit as long as it’s not too frequent an occurrence.
Haha
Jack Corrigan talking about various superstitions of their engineering crew. People talking about standing in the same spot, not shaving, etc. LOL. Jack even made sure not to mention that the Mariners have never scored 6 runs in back-to-back games, because he figured he’d be safe and avoid the jinx.

THAT
is great news. I, for one, have missed Bucky this year. It will be so nice to see the Lemur back in purple pinstripes. Sincerely hope that all goes well in his rehab.
And how far back are we now?
