I must say that for myself, and hopefully everyone involved, the BBQ was a great success. There was food, fun, mayhem, general awkwardness of people from the internet meeting in person, and more than enough stupidity to last the summer.
FI2 was gracious enough to provide his house to BBQ and hang out at, which was awesome. Food was plentiful, including burgers, dogs, chips, and enough cheese puffs to feed the French Foreign Legion.
Redhawk was late as hell thanks to traffic, but he made up for it in the form of beer.
The game went well, including various chants including "SIX-TY PITCH-ES clap clap clapclapclap" and when Brad Hawpe hit his 19th 2-bagger of the season, we had a nice healthy "UNDER-RATED clap clap clapclapclap" going.
The part that ended up being the most out of control was the stupid cheese puffs. AtkinsandTulofan and GUEST brought the entire 5gal bucket in and got yelled at by an usher for throwing them into the mouths of the beer bash going on about 10 seats down and 2 rows up. Also naming the cheese puffs individual player names.
We gave out at least 1 or 2 nicknames, including Carlos "Phil" Gonzalez and Troy "....Cheese Puff" Tulowitzki.
I'm proud to report that we didn't actually do the live-Fangraphs-update, although PF and I are debating coming back and trying it again.
The sheer amount of profanity and badmouthing coming from AaTF and GUEST behind us after Corpas' dinger was earsplitting and mindblowing. Seriously, Street was 2 outs into the save and they were STILL ranting about how Corpas should be "dumped somewhere with bricks tied to his feet".
Anyhow, it was a good time had by all. PioneerSkies brought (in my opinion) some of the funniest parts of the day in 3 forms:
1. Showing up with Taco Bell to the BBQ. Keep the Streak hot, man!
2. Showing up also with the 5gal bucket of Cheese Puffs, which became a celebrity in their own right
3. After coolapotomous made an astute observation about something the Rockies did, he chimed in with an eloquent, if not brief, "+1"

Keifer Southerland a lot. Especially when we were younger, we really did look a lot a like. But as we’ve aged, I’ve gotten rounder in the face, and he’s gotten longer.

I’ve experienced this myself, and it is definitely awkward. I even have one internet friend I’ve met up with in person a few times (over the course of a few years now, just recently a couple weeks ago) and it’s still always a bit awkward at first.

I have made some great acquaintances through the internet (mostly in the horse business) .
But I can’t remember being any more awkward than I would if I had never met them over the internet. Did that make sense?

I think it's awkward
because you have a certain established rapport online, but that doesn’t automatically transfer to a real-person situation. And not everyone is exactly the same as their online persona, anyway.

It’s usually supa awkward, but can definitely smooth out over the course of hanging out.

and really was nice in LoDo after wards.
For those that weren’t there. The hat is a nice new palm. It got wet in the pregame storm. Well…it’s had a lot of glue resin in it. (not the most expensive hat on the shelf). Well. the wet rain and new hat, brought out the resin and it really…well……stunk. But some Frebreeze, and it’s good now…with just a hint of stink.

The Rockies need some oldschool purple/white striped high socks. The team’s problem is it’s lack of swagger. I feel strongly that these socks will provide the swagger necessary to tap the potential that are the Rockies.
