What is Morales worth??
Been sitting here watching the end of the CWS and reading MLBTradeRumors.com and a couple of articles have mentioned that the Rocks are starting to look for starting pitching in preparation for us being in the race closer to the deadline.
As it currently stands, not many pitchers are on the blocks due to many would be sellers still feeling like they are in it, so the asking price is pretty high. Exp - Indians are looking for Clay Buchholz type talent for Cliff Lee.
So I started to look through our roster to see what we might have as possible trading chips and Morales appears to be an interesting possibility.
I see a couple of scenarios playing out
Scenario 1 - Has Morales finally putting it all together down in the Springs and being that "additional" starter that we are looking for down the stretch.
Scenario 2 - Has him just not fulfilling his potential and causing the Rocks roster issues next year as he will be out of options.
So my question to you - If we were to dangle Frankie as trade bait between now and the deadline, what do you think he would fetch?

Sign Pedro Martinez
Here’s my idea…I don’t think Morales will make that much of an impact both performance and psychological.-wise Therefore sign Pedro Martinez 9Brett Saberhagen Effect) with the money we save from trading Atkings. Pedro with good defense should be an average pitcher but he’ll be passing on alot of advice to Ubaldo and the rest of the staff. Remember he mentors Ubaldo here and there. We are in a pennent race…so the appeal is there….I think we even have the money to do it. But I wouldn’t sign him if he cost us draft picks but I didn’t see anything on the web that said he would cost us draft picks.

The only hole in that theory is "the money we save from trading Atkins".
We’ve got to trade him first and the tradee would have to take all of his salary. Not sure that’s gonna happen.
"I've had pretty good success with Stan Musial by throwing him my best pitch and backing up third." - Carl Erskine
Both New York Teams
Could go for it if we just ask them to pick up his salary and give us some low-A prospects.
Morales
I think either Morales or Hynick will add more value to the rotation than Jorge De La Rosa. I’m predicting when the AAA season ends JDLR is out…unless the Sky Sox get into the playoffs.
I had heard that a team just gave him a work out in
the Dominican Republic (forgot who) His price tag is still the same. $5mill per yer for 2 years, limited incentives.
He’s got little to nothing left in the tank as far as being a pitcher goes. I was all for him earlier in the year…but mostly as a mentor to Ubaldo.
I’d rather have Morales in the rotation right now then Pedro.
I also heard that a number of teams have already walked away from his workouts
that he, like you said, has little to nothing left in the tank
