Making My First Trip to OAK and LA to Watch Rockies, Any Pointers?

This weekend I will making my first trip to watch the Rockies on the road (besides being in school in Missouri and driving the short distance to Busch).  My brother and I are going to the Sat and Sun games in OAK and the Mon game in LA.  We have tickets, hotel reservations (Park Plaza in OAK and Airport Courtyard in LA), and plan to use public transportation/walking to get to games.

Star-divide

I did some research and looks like Park Plaza is really close to the McAffee Colliseum, so that doesn't bother me much.  We are planning on taking the BART from SFO airport to OAK and getting the hotel's free shuttle from there.  We could always take a cab if the walk doesn't look friendly from the hotel to the stadium.  I am more concerned with getting to Dodger Stadium.  My plan is to get on the Metro near our hotel on Century Blvd near the airport and ride it to Union Station downtown.  I heard it is a bit of a walk from there, and there are no shuttles to the stadium this year.  I'm thinking maybe a taxi would be a good idea, but I don't know how close they can get you or if it would be worth it.

On a side note, any "must-dos" at either stadium?  They are the two oldest this side of the Mississippi, so it will be great to see that 60's architecture! ;)  Look forward to seeing any of you West Coast Rox Fan's at the games!

Depending on what BART stop is closest to the hotel, you should either take BART to the game, or have the hotel shuttle take you to the Colessium BART station. Walking through Oakland can be dicey. It depends on how close you are to the stadium of course, but when you start to get outside a three or four block radius of it, you take the chance of stumbling upon trouble … especially being a tourist. The Colessium BART station takes you to the park. So get there, whether it be by hopping on the BART at another station, or just asking the shuttle to taxi you there.

I'm probably going to the Tuesday game..

It’s my day off and I can show up early for BP.

I decided not to attend Tuesday's game..

Not after i found out it was a fireworks game. It will be too difficult to get home that night.

Won’t it be easier, assuming you leave right when the game is over? A ton of people stay to watch the fireworks, and you should be able to cruise out of the parking lot with relative ease, at least compared to a normal night.

Oakland games were great.

Alanna Rizzo sat next to us on Sunday for a few innings early in the ballgame, and then saw her at In-N-Out Burger after the game. It was about a 30 min walk from the hotel, and the area wasn’t too bad, but night games during the week would really be dangerous. The BART is awesome for getting from SFO to Oakland, hoping the Metro is just as easy to get from Century Blvd to Dodger Stadium tonight.

Looking to get to Dodger Stadium early for BP today, sitting next to left field foul pole for the game. Hopefully Ubaldo can shut down the Dodgers and the top of our lineup rebounds from a down day yesterday.
