Game #73: Jason Hammel vs Dallas Braden
Colorado Rockies at Oakland Athletics, Jun 26, 2009 8:05 PM MDT
The Rockies visit the Oakland A's in what should be the most winnable stretch of a difficult road trip. Jason Hammel was left off the hook his last time out against Pittsburgh, but hopes to rebound on the road in a pitcher friendly environment tonight. He's got a run of four straight W's when given a decision, most of those coming on the road.
vs.
Braden's another finesse lefty, a class of pitcher that the Rockies had a lot of difficulty with early in the season, but have been handling very well of late and are in fact now second in the National League to the Mets (5th in the MLB) in OPS vs LHP's.
Go Rockies!

Wow, Braden is looking straight gangsta.
I’d also like to add that I am in man-love with Matt Holliday.

Just checking in to say hey
Go Rocks! I won’t be around for the game, but I’ll be listening. Here’s hoping that Garrett Atkins can increase his trade value and Jason Hammel can decrease Holliday’s trade value. Have fun, everyone, and play nice.

"No,I've been nervous lotsa times"

OK Rockies
I’m in the mood for a win tonight. Had a great day at work, came home to find my first 2 tomatoes of the season coming on, and my green beans and cucumbers are growing like weeds. Don’t mess up my day. Just win. Thank you.
And how far back are we now?
I really want to see a win.
It’s strange that we haven’t won in four days, and I’ve literally felt physically ill since with no real explanation. Rockies: cure me.

…nice to see him again – always seemed like a good dude; I’d have preferred Hill to have gone
The A's were my team before the Rockies were around.

I've always wondered about Jose Hernandez...
Who had that big spike in HR’s for a couple of seasons before dropping off again by the time he came to the Rockies.
Henry Rodriguez.

That's when he started...
And it carried through his Milwaukee years, but dropped abruptly when he came to Coors Field. He never really had that kind of power in the minors and he was a pretty good friend of Sosa’s at Chicago… there’s just quite a bit of circumstantial evidence there.
whoa, you're right about those minor league #'s

Atkins in June
pretty funny, his June rate stats (the old 1.8 * obp + slg, and likely wOBA/EQA as well) are better than Stewart’s June #‘s. Never thought that would happen after Stewart’s player of the week.

Does anyone want Holliday back?
I kinda do, mainly just because i’m not convinced on CarGo

way different reason...
I kind of do just because he’s a good player and a Rockies all time great. I think CarGo will get it, it’s just a matter of when.
Braves pitching
I wonder who they’d be willing to send over here for one of the OF’s…one would think they could use another.

I do wish he could come back here. He was one of the players I followed the most from start until now, it is still weird with him gone. And I believed every time he came up to the plate, the Rockies always had a chance.

I might be in the minority...
but I think the FSRM team is pretty good. I had to suffer through many other RSN broadcast with Time Warner Extra Innings, and it made you appreciate Goodman/Frazier.
I agree...to an extent
Yes, Goodman/Frazier aren’t really all that bad – it’s the sideline gimmicks & booth guests that drive me nuts (Helmers stupid lines, Internet Police, etc)

but the Extra Innings package has spoiled me. Down the road, I’d like to see Clint Hurdle take a stab at color commentary…

Plus it would be great
having someone closely to the Rockies in the booth. I mean, Frazier goes off about when he played for the Yankees and Huson with the Expos/Strangers/O’s/everybody else. But a guy like Clint could actually talk Rockies. Know what I’m sayin?
