that’s about the size of it.

Seriously, Paige should lose his job. He gets too much freedom to just blather whatever he wants and it’s usually garbage.

It's all about eyeballs

If people stopped reading him, he’d be gone. He’s been around for so long, it’s habit for a lot of people. Also, I generally think he’s better sometimes in columns that don’t have to do with the Rockies.

I've thought of that too

but perhaps he misses his mark just as much with other teams, and I don’t recognize the inaccuracies because I don’t know the teams as well as the Rox.

I Like Paige

Though that column was pretty stupid, I normally enjoy reading his stuff. Most of it isn’t serious, which is something that people that don’t follow him regularly don’t understand. When he writes a serious column, though, which is generally related to the Broncos, there isn’t anyone better. He wrote a column about Brandon Marshall back in March that was tremendous. I was going to link to it as an example, but I can’t find it.

Problem is

He’s such a part of the Hack-and-slash Denver Media that even when he’s “joking” he looks like a shortsighted bandwagoner who has no idea what he’s talking about. Denver seems to love mediocrity, esp from its big name sportswriters.

I don't think it's that Denver loves mediocrity.

I think it’s a combination of people just going with the flow and taking what’s already there, and also just not taking columnists like Woody very seriously. I think most people see columns like his as entertainment, nothing more.

We don’t have a clue what we’re talking about, even those of us with a journalism degree.
