Nothing serious on the line anymore.
I have weird thyroid issues, but earlier this Summer they confirmed it wasn’t cancer. So there’s nothing big on the line short of seeing if my current thyroid meds are the right dosage.

They might.
It remains to be seen. But if he doesn’t have surgery, even if he doesn’t come back this season, it means he might be healthy for 2010.
by Greg Stanwood on Jul 1, 2009 12:32 PM MDT up reply actions
I don't know if I'd take this as good news...
If surgery’s more or less inevitable down the road, it would be best to get it over and done with, I would think. Otherwise you get a situation that drags out like we had with Francis and Buchholz to some extent.
I thought Buchholz needing another surgery was somewhat of a surprise, wasn't it?
by Greg Stanwood on Jul 1, 2009 12:39 PM MDT up reply actions
Somewhat...
I mean it was a surprise for him and maybe for the team (but probably not, they just span it that way) but it wasn’t surprising from a baseball observer standpoint.
Well they might as well ship us Haren for um GA, Q and Baker.

I can't say enough how much I want the Rockies to do well today
This one if for my wife, my pook pook…every time the Rox win, she seems to do just a little bit better.
Kruk, I feel a bit guilty even posting here today, but I’m right by her side and not going anywhere.

I wish it were speedier...
Right now, they’re not even considering trying to take her off the ventilator and lifting her coma for at least a couple more days.

Maybe
you could write the Rockies and tell them to win as it helps her.
I hope for a quick recovery.

I would really like to see the Cards doe pop the Giants for a change.
"I've had pretty good success with Stan Musial by throwing him my best pitch and backing up third." - Carl Erskine
The Giants are really irritating me with their inability to lose.
Too bad they can’t keep playing the Brewers.
We have 13 games left against the Giants.
After today, we’ll only have six left against the Dodgers.

Just that we’ll have a fair shot at passing them in those 13 games alone.

It's been delayed until Friday.
I get the feeling they’re trying hard to trade him.
by Greg Stanwood on Jul 1, 2009 12:50 PM MDT up reply actions
It would seem so. I wonder how long before MLB is going require them to make a decision. It's not like he's injured.
"I've had pretty good success with Stan Musial by throwing him my best pitch and backing up third." - Carl Erskine
I get that feeling as well
if they really felt he was better than Phillips he’d have been back a long time ago
I feel bad for him.
I’m not going to dispute that a trade might be in the team’s best interest, but you have to wonder if this would even be happening if his son hadn’t been kidnapped.
It wouldn't have.
Phillips would have been displaced for Iannetta.
by Greg Stanwood on Jul 1, 2009 12:56 PM MDT up reply actions
Definitely feel bad for him
It’s bad enough to lose your job because of injury, but lose it because your kid is kidnapped? Brutal.
Hopefully if he gets traded he’ll get more play time. I’m sure he hates riding the pine five games a week.
Torrealba seems okay with it.
He said he really wants to stay, but knows it is out of his control. He’s a good guy.
by Greg Stanwood on Jul 1, 2009 12:58 PM MDT up reply actions
I think they would still be trying to trade him.
But to your point, over the past 4 weeks they’ve found a low cost alternative in Phillips.
"I've had pretty good success with Stan Musial by throwing him my best pitch and backing up third." - Carl Erskine
I think the Dodgers...
…can be had today, as long as Hammel pitches decent. Blue guys are sleepwalking waiting for Manny return.
I suppose there is a metric for this???

I hardly ever get to see any Rockies games here in St. Louis, so this is one of my only ways to keep up with the games as they’re being played. And it is still making me stress each inning. LOL
