Nothing serious on the line anymore.
I have weird thyroid issues, but earlier this Summer they confirmed it wasn’t cancer. So there’s nothing big on the line short of seeing if my current thyroid meds are the right dosage.

They might.
It remains to be seen. But if he doesn’t have surgery, even if he doesn’t come back this season, it means he might be healthy for 2010.

I don't know if I'd take this as good news...
If surgery’s more or less inevitable down the road, it would be best to get it over and done with, I would think. Otherwise you get a situation that drags out like we had with Francis and Buchholz to some extent.
I thought Buchholz needing another surgery was somewhat of a surprise, wasn't it?

I mean it was a surprise for him and maybe for the team (but probably not, they just span it that way) but it wasn’t surprising from a baseball observer standpoint.

if they really felt he was better than Phillips he’d have been back a long time ago
I feel bad for him.
I’m not going to dispute that a trade might be in the team’s best interest, but you have to wonder if this would even be happening if his son hadn’t been kidnapped.

It’s bad enough to lose your job because of injury, but lose it because your kid is kidnapped? Brutal.
Hopefully if he gets traded he’ll get more play time. I’m sure he hates riding the pine five games a week.
Torrealba seems okay with it.
He said he really wants to stay, but knows it is out of his control. He’s a good guy.
