I want

Mauer to win, but Pujols is the obvious choice to vote for in the poll.

Who are you rooting for, Rowbots?

Russ likes Mauer. RMN has a big mancrush on Pujols. I’m pulling for Pujols and Adrian Gonzalez, my keeper league MVP.

I'm rooting for Gonzalez

For a couple reason. First, because he’s an NL guy. Second, because of the charity think for all his home runs. Also, because I like it when lesser known guys pull off surprise wins.

by holly96 on Jul 13, 2009 5:37 PM MDT reply actions

I put my poll vote for Inge because he's the underdog

but I totally pick, and want, A.Gonzalez to win this. Pujols is a very close second. Howard needs to be gone in the first round.

Not sure why…hunch I guess. Though he is incredibly strong. He left an impression on me in Tucson.

This just in

Todd Helton’s 2000th hit (and Jason Kendall’s) don’t count.

Jonathan Papelbon’s Red Sox record setting save, however, does.

Apparently they don’t think 2000 hits is a milestone. I don’t think I saw any Rockies in their 1st half highlight package.

Ubaldo's pitches enforce a lot of groundballs

and generally speaking, it’s just plain hard to have contact off him, and most of it is weak anyways.

by bballrox4717 on Jul 13, 2009 7:02 PM MDT up reply actions

Something about

Elastic collisions…? Something like that, energy transfer, combines the speed of the ball and bat

by ShadowPenguin on Jul 13, 2009 7:02 PM MDT up reply actions

Well, you still have to make good contact.

It’s still true that all else being equal (bat speed, contact point, etc.), a faster pitch is going to go farther faster than a slower pitch

I am going to see Ubaldo in NY

Hopefully he pitches against Santana for a real good old fashioned pitching duel… though I wouldnt mind seeing the Rox miss Santana altogether and have a better shot at a sweep.

Yeah, I hope the game is worth it too

it’s only the second Rox game I saw. The first was back a while ago when my family of Yankee fans took me to an interleague game between the Rox and Yanks. Sometimes the trip out west to the city is just plain isn’t worth it.
