That's how many runs he would save over 150 games.
Although it’s a small sample so the number would probably drop over time. OTOH CarGo has been pure money in the defensive outfield. The assist he had in Anaheim was amazing.

It's based on plays made within the area,
or zone that a player plays in. I don’t trust UZR as much as RZR which is based on fielding pct, plays made and out of zone plays made. But the UZR stat provides a statistical number that’s easier to understand.

Defensive stats are difficult to quantify...
But defense is often overlooked because of this problem. Which is why hitters with poor defense are often overpaid (ie Garret Atkins).

If a player is either very good (such as Ozzie Smith or 2007 Tulo at short)
Or very bad (such as Brad Hawpe last season) and plays a lot of innings, it makes a big difference. In Gonzalez’s case, his defensive advantage doesn’t make up for his bat’s liability, doesn’t come close so far.

I think peralta and Rincon are on similar ground for now, just because of Peralta's June.
But then again, I thought the same thing about Grilli, and the second we needed a roster spot, Grilli’s one week of poor performance out of seven got him the boot.

… especially considering Peralta’s in a toucgh spot right now, and having one bad outing in a blowout game is not necessarily unexpected.

His elbow is still damaged.
It’s just protected by cortisone. The hope is that the pain will go away, and they can worry about fixing the elbow after the season. We have to hope it holds up.
