Around SBN: In Crunch Time, Spurs Don't Change Their Game

Marc Hulet at Fangraphs explains the top pitching performers of Double AA this year, ranking them using FIP (fielding independent pitching) and K/9. Esmil Rogers leads FIP by a long shot, and is second in K/9, while Samuel Deduno ranks third in K/9. While Rockies top pitching prospect Jhoulys Chacin is not mentioned, Hulet describes the Rockies pitching depth as rich, with the potential of being ridiculous.

Our rotation in 2011 looks set to be a good one

Jimenez/Morales/Chacin/Rogers/Friedrich sounds pretty good, not to mention guys like Cook and Hammel potentially still being around, although obviously a lot can go wrong before then with pitchers.

Now if we sign Matzek as well…..look out.

Even though the pitching depth and talent the Rockies have is great

we can’t bank on all the pitching prospects working out though.

I remember when Greg Reynolds was a jewel because he absolutely dominated Double AA with a 1.42 ERA.

i completely forgot about it

the Suck version of Reynolds has clouded my hope

That's one reason why I like the multiple prospects

Some won’t work out, some will get hurt, some will go through both. It’s nice that there’s multiple possibilities.

Leave Dexter alone! You're lucky he even performs for you!

Deduno

looks like he might be a good sell-high candidate, do the Royals or Astros have any potentially good bullpen arms?

The Rockies need some oldschool purple/white striped high socks. The team’s problem is it’s lack of swagger. I feel strongly that these socks will provide the swagger necessary to tap the potential that are the Rockies.

I'd like some Deduno in our bullpen this year

he’s on the 40 man roster, so he could be a helpful September callup who translates into next year
