Cards & A's Discussing Holliday For Wallace
Not that I want to see Holliday back in the NL (other than for the Rockies), but the Cards get a bat, and the Giants keep searching...

Funny you should mention that
Jon Heyman over at SI.com had this on the Trade Rumor Blog: “The A’s are in discussions with the Cardinals about a deal that would send star outfielder Matt Holliday to Oakland.”
For the life of me, I could have sworn that Matty was already in Oakland. Just cracked me up and was looking for an excuse to share. (And I agree that I’d rather see Matty with the Cards than with someone in our division. )
Free Seth Smith, damnit!
Huh
Until the Rockies played the A’s, I hadn’t realized just how awkward Holliday looks in the outfield. He’s a good outfielder, but man he looks bad running down balls. The fan blinders tend to do that, I guess.
I have thought all along that Holliday would go to the Mets, but they’re such a bad team that it wouldn’t make sense. St. Louis is better than San Fran for sure, but it would suck to run into a tandem of Holliday/Pujols in the postseason.

Holliday occasionally misplays one
But his mobility helps a lot. He actually grades out pretty well on just about all defensive metrics. Part of this is because the stats compare one to peers. LF tends to be “patrolled” by more stationary players like Adam Dunn and Manny.
Leave Dexter alone! You're lucky he even performs for you!
