Rockies 0, Marlins 0: Rain forces traditional double header tomorrow
Maybe it would have been better for the Rockies if we had played through the heavy rain. After all, the Rockies outscored the Marlins 3-0 once heavy rain started last night.
The game will be made up tomorrow as a traditional double header, with the first game starting at 11:35amMDT. Chris Volstad has been moved to the first game against Aaron Cook, and Rick VandenHurk slides to game two to be Jorge de la Rosa's opponent.
Apparently the Stephen Curtis Chapman concert is still on at Land Shark though.
Even though the Rockies lost yesterday and didn't play, they suffered more in the standings today than yesterday. The Giants beat the Mets in extras. Hiroki Kuroda and Doug Davis are pitching against each other tonight.

Seriously, 26 outs by Santana and KRod is usually a good formula
but then, it’s the Mets.

Personally, I love double headers
I know sports teams hate them. I once was coaching soccer and the league i worked for was about to schedule a triple-header to make up for games.
My players and I object to playing 3 games in one day.
well not a good day for the WC standings
Cubs Braves Giants all winning but the Dodgers continue to stumble!…blew a 3-0 lead and lose 4-3 in 10 innings….4.5 back
we seem to have gotten over that HURDLE

maybe they'll keep slumping
0-2 against dbacks is a good start to a slump.
then we wouldnt have to worry bout the marlins. also, those mets are lookin good nowadays right? 9 or so back in the WC, but id say they still got a better shot than us right

it would be nice...
to see both the marlins and rockies make the playoffs.. both teams still have a shot at the division being in 2nd place respectively and ofcourse definitely have a shot at the WC
ugh. double header.
is it just me or does EVERY double header end in a 1-1 split? i think it’s a psychological thing.
okay, maybe it’s just me. still, i’d like to see some stats on that.
Every one I happened to notice this particular season did seem to turn out that way.
However, I can’t speak for long term, or in general.

One Question, One Gripe
Question: Is there a difference between a “traditional double header” and a regular old double header?
Gripe: Of course there’d be a rain-out on my birthday when I actually could have listened to the game. That figures, eh?
The difference lies between a regular (traditional) doubleheader where teams play one game and then start the second a little while after the first ends, and a day-night doubleheader where they play the first game in the afternoon and then the second game starts like a regular evening game. In the traditional doubleheader, one ticket is good for both games, but in the day-night doubleheader you need a separate ticket for both.

didnt the rockies sweep the dodgers in a double header in august 2007. todd helton homer. we all know what that led to.
or I could be wrong…
yep 1st game francis won
2nd game we came back with the Helton walk off capping it
we seem to have gotten over that HURDLE

You're right
That double header seemed to be the catalyst for the streak. I remember Brad Hawpe said on an interview after the game that all the Rockies had to do was win the rest of their games, but that they thought they could do it.
