Hanley Ramirez is a franchise player. You don’t let him go unless he is insistent about leaving, or if you’re 3/4 years out of contention and you can get a massive package of prospects

Disappointing effort from Cook today

Let’s hope this awful pitching doesn’t continue through the whole trip. Figures that after everyone has been touting our quality-start numbers that we run out two straight bad efforts.

In any event, I’m not asserting the certainty of moral failure here, just raising the possibility that it might not have been a good decision to put him on the hill today. Whether that is true is, to me, an important question.

All I have to say…..Dodgers #1 on my hate list ( but who doesn’t hate them)
Atlanta and Florida are #2 and #3 on my list especially when playing at their place. Rockies just can’t seem to get over the 500% humidity down there and the opposing
pitchers who get great ball movement in those nasty sweat box pitchers stadiums. Going up to Black Hawk, maybe catch game 2 up there. Let’s hope for 3-3 or 4-2 road
trip….although Nationals playing well right now as well.

being hit and being “shelled”, I think. Like in that Giants game – he gave up 9 hits, but only 2 runs crossed the plate and he didn’t walk a batter. He’s been leaving the ball up more lately, I agree, but I wouldn’t say that he’s spent the last month getting “shelled”.

shelled seems more like when a guy goes on tilt early in the game

Not really worried

But that doesn’t mean I’m pleased. He’s a worse 2nd half hitter and while his Augusts are historically sound, his Septembers aren’t very good at all.

I disagree

FIP indicates he’s been just about as good as he was in Washington (4.07 FIP in WAS, 4.03 in COL)

tRA…in its various forms….also says he’s performed better in Colorado.

I think we just see him in too many lousy games and it causes a bad case of selective memory.

but i don’t care what stats your looking at coming into the game today he has allowed 3 runs 6 hits in 5 innings and if you add this appearance those stats aren’t going to be looking better

this is the problem with SABR people and non-SABR people.

SABR people present more detailed evidence that takes more into account than the traditional statistics, and then the non-SABR people pretty much cover their ears and refuse to listen to anything more.

If you want to say you do not enjoy Beimel pitching, I guess you can do that, but to just say that you don’t care what the advanced numbers say, well, it reflects poorly on.

He is pitching at the level we’d expect out of him.

He’s below his career FIP, and far above his career K/BB. I call that “good” relative to Joe Beimel.

He stunk out loud today, so when Fangraphs updates, we’ll get another look.

Brad Hawpe is a garbage RF

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to think that Helton misses balls off the bat, as he’s older and isn’t as spry as he once was, and Hawpe’s never been good, therefore the right side is not helping him out too much.
